About

Why I Invented The NEVERknead by Debra Ann

WHO INVENTED The NEVERknead?

I'm a polymer clay artist.
And I was in pain from kneading.
So I invented a solution.

Well, that's the short 'n sweet answer. The long answer is that I struggled for years kneading clay by hand, and developed a very painful condition in my left shoulder and neck, plus an ugly whoppin' callous on my hand.

For years I searched for a better way to knead clay, to no avail. I couldn't believe there was nothing out there. Then I started experimenting with some ideas and in March of 2014 came up with a prototype of the current NEVERknead. I've been perfecting it ever since then and I'm thrilled to present it to you now.

It is my sincere hope to make your life as a polymer artist better and help you create your art faster and without any potential pain or discomfort from hand-kneading. I know NEVERknead works. I use it 100% for my own polyclay art. I never hand-knead. Ever.

Excerpt from review by KatersAcres:
"...For a really hard, stiff, & crumbly block of clay, this machine is an absolute lifesaver. It will save damage, wear, tear, & grief over using your pasta machine (or a hammer) to condition those absolutely wretched blocks of clay that refuse to cooperate..."

Thank you so much for creating this! It makes softening Sculpey so easy, and my hands can relax! After 12 years sculpting pets, I can honestly say, it will be with out the aches and strains.

"I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My NeverKnead, Norman, arrived today, and I've been playing with it ever since. I had a good idea of what I'd experience from the videos on the website, but I really didn't expect to be so taken with it so quickly. I fell in love with Norman so hard there was an audible thump. I have both systemic lupus and fibromyalgia, so working with poly clay had pretty much become impossible for the last several years. It broke my heart to pack away all my clay, tools and sketches when it became just too difficult to condition clay to any degree at all. No more, not with Norman on hand! I turned a 10-year-old block of Fimo clay that was suitable only as a doorstop into a beautifully-soft lump of clay just waiting to be made into something lovely in no time. I am *never* going back to kneading by hand or cranking endlessly on my pasta machine.

"I love this machine. It is more than I thought it would be. I would suggest anyone who make polymer clay beads buy this machine. You will thank me if you do. I cannot say enough about it. I got the grey one because I did not figure it would matter and it didn't. Work just as good as any other color. Thank you to Cindy Lietz Polymer Clay Tutor. You are wonderful." - Janice W.

Custom and personalized orders

I can attempt to match a custom color. Send me a swatch and I'll see what I can do!

Care instructions

Simply wipe down The NEVERknead with a soft cloth. Baby wipes are great and work well for not only the unit, but the white Base Plate and Stomper cleaning. NON-abrasives only!

Wholesale availability

The NEVERknead is available now for wholesale. Please contact me.

Does The NEVERknead work with all polymer clay?

Yes! All Sculpey, Fimo, Cernit, Kato, and more! Any polymer clay conditions well with The NEVERknead.

How soon will I get The NEVERknead?

Gray NEVERkneads ship within 24 hours (sometimes same day), other colors take about 5 or 6 days because they are custom painted and need time for the finish to cure.

Will it get rid of the "crumblies"?

YES! Take an old crumbly packet of polymer clay, a drop of Sculpey Clay Softener, and it will NEVERknead back into shape in a matter of minutes.

Is it hard to operate, what training do I need?

It is SO simple. Place your polymer clay on the Base Plate, then turn the Lever. It exerts 1/2 ton of pressure onto your clay. Rotate clay and repeat until soft. Simple dimple.
