The first wreath was lost in the mail. Seller was great to work with and quickly replaced the lost one when USPS didn’t have answers. It is beautiful! I love how it looks on my door. Quality and craftsmanship are great!

Took a while for delivery. When arrived, looked fairly cheaply made. Not worth the cost.

Custom request for a small plaque under the nautical wreath to put babies birth date, time, weight etc. Found a navy blue chalkboard. Added the white vinyl trim and hemp and made the waves out of hemp. Not too bad!
Just about done with another bottle cap wreath. Will be shipping it out tomorrow in time for Christmas.

Part-time Crafter with Full-time Hours

Hello and Welcome to New Orleans Crafts by Design on Etsy!

I have always been a little crafty. I was always the one doing things a little different than everyone else. I love trying out new ideas and methods. Sometimes they work and sometimes they are just...well...not very good. That is the great part of crafting. Everyone has a different aesthetic and you never know what someone is going to like or not like for that matter.

I was part of a Mardi Gras Krewe for a few years in Lafayette, LA and was able to expand and grow my abilities by working with some really amazing people and seeing how they came up with their ideas and made little pieces of nothing into amazing costumes and decorations. My mom always knew when I was working on a new project because there would be glitter or sequins all over the place. Yes...I love glitter!

After leaving the Krewe I moved around a bit trying to find the perfect place for me and after a few years ended up moving to New Orleans from Montgomery, AL. This definitely felt like home. I was still close enough to my family to take a quick weekend trip, which I do a couple of times a month.

I seriously started crafting in December of 2012. I made an ornament wreath for Christmas instead of going out and buying one already made. It actually turned out quite fabulous. My partner and my sister-in-law persuaded me to start doing other types of wreaths to be able to sell them.

I started really small with just selling to friends and relatives and soon realized that I may have a great opportunity with this craft thing. I opened my shop here on Etsy in
April of 2013 and have slowly built it up to what it is today.

No, I don't have the most sales are the largest inventory...but it is mine. Something that I started with my unique creations. I do have a full-time job that I absolutely love. I say this is my part-time gig even though I spend more hours per week working on new projects, promotions, social media, etc. than I do at my "real job."

I love what I do and I think that it shows in the work that I turn out. My designs are often a bit quirky and unique even though I do make some things that are the norm....whatever that may be. I try to come up with ideas that are new and innovative even if they don't actually work out in the end.

It has definitely been a learning process and I hope to be able to continue to grow and share my passion for crafting.
