Family Heirlooms for Life Cycle Events: Weddings, Baby Naming, Bat/Bar Mitzvah
I am a digital artist and my work is contemporary and fresh. My computer is my paintbox and it allows me to be creative with each new customized Family Heirloom I create.
Customization of your Heirloom Archival Print is personally done by me. (Please note that the text is not hand written). When everything has been checked twice and approved, your order will be professionally printed on acid free 100% cotton rag paper with archival inks so that it will be as beautiful tomorrow as it is the day you sign it.
Each order is wrapped and shipped in a sturdy mailing tube or heavy mailer using FEDEX or USPS ground service which takes 3-10 days depending on your shipping destination.
I will customize your ketubah with one of the variety of texts I offer that are appropriate for Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, Humanistic, Interfaith, LGBTQ+ and Gender Neutral ceremonies. Pronouns can be changed or omitted to your preference. I have been creating ketubot for over 30 years and welcome any and all questions you may have and look forward to guiding you through the process.
If you have any questions, I would be happy to hear from you through etsy convo or directly by email. naomibroudo[at]gmail[dot]com

A closet full of hats
I like to say I have had many lives, and worn many different hats. Every one was different and magnificent and figuratively speaking I have been able many times to refashion and old hat or two into a new one to suit each new life as it came my way.
I grew up in a family of very creative people, so I had inspiration all around me from a very early age. I also come from a long line of entrepreneurial types so I had role models galore. And no lack for cheer leaders for encouragement.
I don't think I can remember a time that I was not making things or drawing or painting something. It wasn't until I was much older though, already a mother (and a few hats under my belt), that my dream of going to art school came true. My husband and I were living in Israel, on a small Kibbutz in the Western Galilee called Adamit.
I designed my first ketubah for friends about that time. I can hardly believe it, but that was — more than 40 years ago! In those days I had a drawer full of tiny brushes and a well used box of watercolors. But as I was being molded into a designer, I was introduced to computers, and a new world of digital techniques expanded my toolbox to such a degree that I eventually gave up my physical brushes and paints completely.
In the mean time, we moved back to Canada, and I had a wonderful design career for nearly 25 years and I designed a few more ketubot for friends along the way. But when our son announced his engagement, I sat down at my computer, and as they say — the rest is history.
Working with my son and his bride to create a lasting expression of their love for each other — a work of art that would find a place in their home — well — what can I tell you? This is a mother's dream come true!
It also changed me. It was time to get back to something I loved — Ketubah design!
And that is how Fresh Ketubah was born.
That was eleven years ago, and a lot has happened since then. I have retired from my design life, moved to New York, and am embracing the world by trying to see as much of it as I can. And I have opened this shop to share my work with you!
Why Fresh Ketubah you ask? Well, I thought it was time to breathe some fresh ideas into an age old tradition.
I hope you will take a few minutes to browse through my shop, and if you see something you like, I would love to hear from you!

Shop policies
All of my designs are digitally printed with archival inks on 100% cotton rag paper. Although I have done everything in my power to present each item as accurately as possible, all monitors preview colors differently. As a rule of thumb, my work is quite saturated and very pleasing to the eye. If you are trying to match to a particular color scheme, event theme or wall color, send me an email (naomibroudo[at]gmail[dot]com). I am sure we can find a way to make it work.

Care instructions
All of my listings are professionally printed Giclee prints on archival acid free 100% cotton rag paper with archival inks. With proper care, they should remain as vivid and beautiful in 100 years as they look the day you receive them. But if hung in direct sunlight, the colors will degrade over time. Care should also be taken in choosing acid free matte board to extend the life of your family heirloom.
What are my shipping costs?
All ketubot ship domestically to anywhere in the US and Canada for free. For shipping prices to Europe and other international destinations, please send me your full shipping address by convo, and I will get back to you with pricing. Some smaller items in my shop ship to Canada for an additional fee. I am working on that, and hope to be able to offer free shipping to Canada on all items over $35 soon.
What size should I buy?
This is very personal, but the first step is mapping the size so you know what you are dealing with. I have put together a tutorial for making a mock up of the size of your ketubah so that you can think about what it will look like hanging in your home. You can download it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mamlxj88pgl8q70/Mapping%20ketubah%20sizes.jpg?dl=0
Keep in mind that you may be adding a matte and the dimension of the frame when making your mock up.
Do you have Parents' gifts to match my ketubah?
Yes! I have Parents' gifts to match each and every ketubah that is available at my shop.
I am creating them as they are requested. Just convo me and let me know which design you are interested in and I can show you a mock up, and provide pricing.
Do you have special texts for LGBTQ+ and Gender Neutral unions?
That is a good question and I have thought about this a lot. I believe that all of my modern texts are appropriate for any and all unions. But since Hebrew is a language that treats masculine and feminine words and people differently, I do have special versions of my texts where the Hebrew has been modified to properly designate each partner. This is always a work in progress as Israel and my translators change with our changing world. If you have questions, please get in touch.
How do I get a chance to review the ketubah texts you offer?
Please contact me by convo or by email (naomibroudo@gmail.com) and I will send you a link to download my text offerings as well as my worksheet. Ketubah texts are copyright to each ketubah artist. For that reason, I prefer to send them to you personally rather than to offer them for viewing at my shop or on my website.
Can I provide you with a text I have found online?
There is a long and complicated answer to this question which is asked often. Let me try and clear this up. Ketubah texts are almost always copyright to the ketubah artist that offers the text online. For that reason, it is almost never possible to use a text you find online unless you receive permission from the owner. This may be easy or there may be a charge involved.
Downloading a pdf or a jpg from the internet provides only a picture of the ketubah text. I need to be able to manipulate the text to customize it for your personalized Ketubah. Without a proper text file in both Hebrew and English, and permission from the owner of the text, I am not able to use a text you have found online.
Can I write my own ketubah text?
Yes you can! I provide a translation service if you can not provide me with your own Hebrew translation. The price for translation is based on the length of your text. I will provide you with an estimate after reviewing your text. There is no additional cost to provide your own English text as long as you provide it to me in a word docx. or in the body of an email.
