NataliBaird is taking a short break

Loading

Note from shop owner Between new fees and rising shipping expenses, my prices would have to double for me to keep selling through Etsy and all I've ever wanted to to share my work with people who like it. So I'm going to take a break from Etsy. Perhaps sell on my website, for now, Please let me know if you are interested in any of my work or a custom piece. I will be using etransfer. It's not as coinvent, but it will be more affordable for both of us.

Peace & love, Natali

"Glass is my favorite material because of its movement while hot, like honey on a ball it requires constant persuasion not to fall off."

Hi There!
My name is Natali Baird. I am a glass artist who specializes in the specific technique called “Flame-Working”, in which an oxygen/propane torch is used to melt glass into beautiful pieces of art.
Glass has its own sense of movement and internal structure, a quality which allows me to interact with the medium in an intimate and responsive way.

Why bees? I have been drawing them since my glass studio had a flood in the spring of 2019 and I had to temporarily retreat to the kitchen as an art space. I found that drawing bees fills me with calm. It allows me to reflect upon their importance in the world. They have amazing wings, colours and shape to them, and are part of such intricate relationships with the world around them.

I am a graduate of Sheridan College’s SOCAD and continued my education at the University of Windsor, where I majored in Sculpture.I live and work in Guelph, Ontario.

My art is a reflection of the energy I feel around me. Putting focus on the detail, things that are easily seen if you are holding the piece. I discovered that wearable art allows me to create an intimate experience between the wearer and the art.
