About

Natasha Newton Art & Illustration

ABOUT ME:
I'm an artist and illustrator living in two inspiring and beautiful locations - coastal Suffolk with its vast, open skies, and Surrey, the most densely-wooded county in the UK. After a lifelong interest in painting and drawing, I started my profession as a fine art painter in my 20s, exhibiting work in numerous exhibitions at galleries across the UK and overseas. Illustration was one aspect of my career that seemed to find me, rather than something I consciously set out to do! As my work gathered a larger following online, art directors, publishing companies and businesses hired me to work on various projects - and so the illustration side of Natasha Newton Art & Illustration was born. Commissions have included work for Random House and Quarto books, a number of magazines, and the printing company Moo, among others.

ABOUT MY WORK:
Through my art I try to communicate or evoke particular emotions; a deep love of nature and the countryside, in particular the magical stillness found during the Autumn and Winter seasons, a sense of history and feeling of nostalgia viewed through the eyes of a contemporary painter, and a longing for a simpler way of life. The houses that often feature in my paintings can be seen as 'safe havens', and my hope is that upon encountering my work, I can transport the viewer into the peaceful world I've created.

One of my favourite pastimes is beach combing along the Suffolk coast, and I can't let too much time pass without a trip to the beach - the wilder and more desolate, the better! The pieces of sea glass and beach pottery I find, beautifully tumbled by the waves and the passage of time, have found their way into my work. I select certain pieces to paint on, giving these items another life as a treasured work of art. I am fascinated by the stories of these objects; what they were once a part of and the past life they had, before they were washed up on to the shoreline and into my hands.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I view more of your work?

You can find links to my website, blog, and social media underneath my 'about' section, or just type natashanewton.com into your browser.

Where can I find out about new work?

I post new work and works-in-progress on my Instagram account @natashanewtonart. Keep an eye on my website, blog, and Facebook page too, or just visit the shop itself as I add new work on a regular basis!

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, I ship everything with great care from my studio in the UK and I'm happy to send items anywhere in the world.

Can I reserve an item or pay in instalments?

I can reserve pieces for a short while, so if you'd like to reserve a painting please contact me for details. You can also choose to pay for more expensive pieces in weekly or monthly instalments if you wish.

How soon will you send my order?

All orders will be sent within 3-5 business days from the date of purchase, sometimes sooner. If you're in a particular hurry, please let me know and I'll try to send your order as soon as possible. You will receive a shipping notification to let you know when your package is on its way.

What do I do if my item doesn't arrive, or arrives damaged?

In the unlikely event that there is a problem with your order (damaged in transit, missing parcel etc.) please contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to deal with the situation quickly, either by issuing a refund or exchange. I package everything very carefully to ensure it arrives safely and in perfect condition, but in very rare cases accidents sometimes happen! I've sent thousands of packages over the past few years, and have had just one or two incidents of damaged items or orders not arriving, so I hope this eases any concerns you may have.

Do you accept wholesale orders?

I do, mainly for the prints and painted stones, so please contact me for further details. I love working with shops and galleries on wholesale orders, and my work is now stocked in several shops throughout the UK and overseas.

Can I commission you to create a painting especially for me?

Yes, you can! I enjoy working on special commissions and custom orders so I'd be very happy to discuss the possibility of creating something for you. More information on commissions can be found on my website natashanewton.com, or you can contact me here on Etsy.
