Siempre he creado cosas. Como la mayoría de mis compañeros de Ets, necesito crear. Es lo que me hace más feliz en este mundo. Claro que todo empezó con plastilina, luego cerámica, después yeso y madera, y finalmente metal. El metal fue mi elección. Me encanta su permanencia. Y me encantan los objetos pequeños, los pequeños tesoros de bolsillo, las miniesculturas que se pueden llevar puestas. Había una especie de idealismo que me impulsaba a no limitarme a manipular objetos pequeños, así que incursioné en actividades profesionales, pero es imposible escapar de la persona que estás destinado a ser.
Así que me he entregado felizmente a la creación de pequeños tesoros, pasando las horas serrando, limando, lijando, puliendo, soldando y martillando; todo con una pequeña sonrisa de perfecta felicidad. Ahora soy joyero a tiempo completo.
Soy joven. Tengo buena educación. Soy una hippie elegante. No quiero ser rica ni famosa. Vivo en Nueva York con mi marido, mis dos hijos, seis gallinas y dos loros. La vida es buena.
About Andrea:
I have always made things. Like most of my fellow Etsians, I need to create. It is what makes me happiest in this world. Of course, it started with playdough, then ceramics, on to plaster and wood and then finally metal. Metal was The One. I love the permanence of it. And I love the small object, the little pocket treasure, the wearable minisculpture. There was some sort of world shaking idealism that kept me from letting myself be merely a manipulator of small objects and so I dabbled in professional pursuits, but there is no escaping the person you were meant to be.
And so I have happily succumbed to the creation of small treasures, whiling away the hours in sawing, filing, sanding, polishing, soldering, hammering; all with a little smile of perfect happiness. I am now a full time jeweler.
I am youngish. I am well educated. I am an elegant hippie. I don't want to be rich or famous. I live in NY with my husband, two kids, six chickens and two parrots. Life is good.
