Some recently finished hair pins in some awesome woods

A selection of recently completed hair pins; a rainbow of natural colours and woods.

Some new hair pins and hair forks carved from contrasting plum wood, i have finished sanding a couple of them and put them in the shop. Contrasting cream and purple wood.

A recently completed order of custom hair pins: Brazilian Brownheart, Burr Maple, Turkish Walnut, Argentine Osage Orange, Roupala Lacewood, Judas Tree, Brazilian Tulipwood and Verawood.

This is a batch of hair pins and hair forks that I have cut from a tree that died in my garden over the winter. It is quite a common garden tree with brilliant blue flowers. The wood has some wonderful character and colours within it.

I have nearly used all of the Ivy wood that I had and these hair pins will be some of the last utems carved from it.

This is a batch of hair pins that I am working on in Blue Cedar wood, some of which have made their way into the shop. This is one of less than a handful of softwoods that I have tried and am quite pleased with it.

English Oak hair sticks awaiting sanding and sealing. There is quite a lot of variety in the patternation of English Oak and no two of these hair sticks look very similar.

I have just prepared some individual pots of creamed beeswax for little polishing kits. I hope to upload an instruction video over the next couple of weeks but the process is just wax-on and wax-off.

Here are some hair pins and a hair fork that I am working on in Hawthorn. I have finished carving them and am in the process of sanding and sealing them. Hawthorn has some interesting markings in it but I am not sure how they were caused.
