I started my business as Nature Loving Soaps in Amarillo, Texas in 2017. I initially started making soaps for dogs. (I also raise and breed White German Shepherds) I wanted to have clean, fresh smelling dogs with soft fur.
Dogs don't need to be bathed all that often, but when they do, it can be quite a chore and if using commercial shampoos, will often leave the animal with dry, itchy skin and slightly traumatize. So I made my own natural pet shampoo using quality oils and butter with calming essential oils to help my animals and myself get through the ordeal easier.
I loved the results! So I began making soap products for family and friends. They were a big hit. So I started producing soaps in a spare bedroom on the second floor and even though it made our home smell amazing all the time, I quickly outgrew the space and converted the attached garage to my workshop & Store. I produced many different types of soaps and skincare products that include cleansing creams,face scrubs,face masks,lotions for the face and body etc.
Everything that I make is handmade and natural using only high quality, authentic oils and butters. You won’t find any chemicals in our products. What you will find are skin-loving,nourishing oils, protective and moisturizing butters, and high quality essential or fragrance oils. Most of our soaps are made with the hot process method, so that they are ready to use just a few days after they are made.. You will see on the ingredients list the term “saponified” which simply means that sodium hydroxide (lye) has been added to the oils turning them into soap. There is no lye in the final bar of soap itself.
I happily take special requests and do my best to help you with your skin care. If I can make it....I will.
In 2021 I moved back home to Rangeley, Maine where I opened my current shop Down to Earth Apothecary. I have been studying to become an Herbalists and now offer tinctures, balms, etc. As I expand my knowledge I will offer more natural remedies.
I also make candles, and do paintings on canvas and wood. My shop offers numerous other locally made items and gifts.
