Joy in the details...
My work is about things I love and things that make me happy. Animals, both wild and domestic, as well as tiny cottages, house plants, and flowers are all symbols of joy. I share this joy through the detail of my designs and the playful combination of domestic artifacts and elements of nature; animals wear fancy collars and bow-ties or are surrounded by frames of flowers and greenery. Cottages and house plants are elevated and celebrated with colorful and decorative frames.
I've always loved to draw and have enjoyed taking that love beyond just working on paper. I think about my jewelry and soft sculpture pieces as drawings that you can wear and touch and move. I construct my work from hand cut, wool blend felt and create the designs and details with hand embroidery and beading. The smaller pieces, brooches and pendants, feature hand drawn and colored illustrations done on either shrink plastic or wood. These illustrations are then sealed with jewelry resin for durability. I take joy in the construction of each piece and pride myself in providing a high level of craftsmanship.
