Just added a few of my sister's oil paintings to the shop. Love these cute dolphins!

About

Creating smiles one string at a time!

After my youngest son was born, I wanted to find a way to stay at home with him while still helping financially so that the burden wouldn’t fall completely on my husband. With the encouragement of my husband, Nea’s Nook came to be. I picked up my hook and haven’t put it down since! I love the fact that I can take a craft that has been passed down from the women in my family and use it to help provide for my own.

I learned to crochet when I was a young girl. I would visit my Mammaw and she always had yarn and a hook nearby. I’d sit at her feet chaining and learning new crochet stitches. Grandma loved lace and always had doilies around her house made by various Aunts and cousins. To this day, my Mom still has some of the clothing that she crocheted for me when I was a baby. Even though Mammaw and Grandma are no longer with us, I still find myself wanting to share the excitement of new projects with them. They would always get so tickled to see what I was working on.

Hats have become a bit of an obsession of mine after suffering for years with thinning hair and hair loss due to PCOS. I was never able to find any wigs that I liked, and while there are products on the market that help to hide it, most days I just don’t have time to deal with that. Hats became my saving grace and a way to restore some of my confidence. I had a hard time finding hats that were stylish, durable, and comfortable so I began to make my own. After much thought, I decided to switch gears and offer these hats in my shop. My hope is that I can bring a smile to others who need it and that just maybe I can be a small part of the extra confidence someone has when they walk out their door.
