Create to Thrive

I started my shop in 2014, but I didn't really begin to put the work into my page until late 2016. I had looked everywhere for a job that I could fit in without difficulties in sensory and social areas, a way that I could keep from being eternally exhausted from dealing with a world not set up for those who are Neurodiverse. I eventually found Vocational Rehabilitation, a government organization that helps people with disabilities reach their full potential - and my Etsy shop was reborn, a gem I finally realized could help me be successful and feel useful!

I was diagnosed in adulthood, after realizing I was in a very dark place mentally. After speaking with a counselor, being referred to Voc. Rehab., and being evaluated by a psychologist, I had my explanation for my unique outlook on life. As a child, I always knew I was different, and had frequently written in my journals, "why do I think the way that I do?" I acted different from peers, thought differently, had "quirks" that seemed odd, and so on. My solace when those things had brought me down had been art. Thankfully, I had (and still have) so much support for creating artwork, and doing what I love.

My goals for my shop are: 1) to be able to rely on my shop for financial stability, 2) to improve my self-confidence, 3) to maintain my mental health by having a safe and accommodating work space, 4) to enlighten others about the Autistic community through advocating, 5) to feel proud of my role as an Artist.
