As others said, it does have a slight "smell" when it arrives -- likely reflecting the manufacturing and shipping processes; it was not offensive to me at all. I let it air out for 24-48 hours, and the smell was gone. Have not washed it yet. BUT I am very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 starsThese match the kantha quilt perfectly. They have a zipper opening for inserts. These shams make my throw pillows much more comfy than the heavy twill shams that originally came with my new chair.
