About Me*
born in Hokkaido, Japan on 1976.
currently based in Freiburg Germany.
I work as freelance artist and trained calligrapher in Europe and Japan.
Besides creating Neo-Japonism art works and calligraphy works, I also work on Body-Art and several art projects.
My inspiration is classical Japanese literature, Ukiyoe & floating world, poetry& classic calligraphy, Japonisme influenced art, Art Nouveau & Art Déco styles, antique Kimono, art of Taisho Romanticism(1910-20's style), and modern art of Japan. As well as everyday life’s living words and letters, living colours, lines, patterns and shapes .
My passion is to discover a continuity of time and spiritual existence and develop what I refer to as the ’Neo-Japonism’ — a new form of style…

5 out of 5 starsDear Rie, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your beautiful artwork. It took me several days to decide which one to purchase, but I am thrilled with my final choice. I was overjoyed when I received the print in the mail. It now has a prominent place in my bedroom and both my daughter and I enjoy admiring it before we go to sleep and when we wake up. The print has a calming effect that I did not expect, but am grateful for. The quality of the print is remarkable and I am constantly impressed by its vivid colors and intricate details. I only regret that I did not order two instead of just one. I am sure I will be rectifying that mistake in the near future. Thank you once again for your talented work, it has added a touch of beauty and tranquility to my home.

5 out of 5 starsThis is one of several art prints I bought from Rie-san. She is a talented artist and a very warm person. Contacts were easy from the beginning, she was very helpful in providing a print which at the moment was not available and the shipping was very fast. I love the prints, the beautiful handwritten cards and the little extra gifts. Rie-san’s art is filled with energy and positive vibes and remind me of my beloved Japan at a time when travelling is still very difficult. Thank you very much, Rie-san! Arigato gozaimashita!

Here in my atelier shop, I list my Neo-Japonism art works, calligraphy works and also digital products.
As a trained calligrapher and Sumie artist, I passionately love to discover a continuity of time and spiritual existence and develop what I refer to as the ’Neo-Japonism’ - a new form of style depicting and conveying the sense of Japanese aesthetics. I found a new way of fusing my trained calligraphy and Sumie skills with Japonisme influenced paintings, and also of developing a fresh unity of traditional and contemporary art forms.
♧Painted Poem series
One of the first and most representative works of my Neo-Japonism style. It is distinguished by its unified harmony which strives to create a warm nostalgia. Original poems are composed into a calligraphic design form and made to flow with rich colours, patterns and an atmospheric spirit.
♧SHO-Calligraphy
One of my dynamic collection of works - inspired by my desire to develop and rediscover a pure, direct, unfalsified form of calligraphic art - influenced by a Zen aesthetic imperfection. It often reflects an expression of infinite energy and spiritual concentration.
The inspiration for my work is everyday life’s living words and letters, as well as living colours, lines, patterns and shapes – I will never get bored with how they communicate with each other and how they create a new form of endless impression.
For original works, I mainly use Japanese ink and gouache. I love the infinite possibilities of natural Sumi ink. I also find that the balance and contrast between the black ink and the rich quality of Gouache is soothing and refreshing.
All my art works are painted and calligraphy-ed and Giclee art prints are printed here at my atelier. I hand finish everything with sensitive care and love for all of you out there to have a great moment of pleasure and happiness.
Arigato!

Additional policies and FAQs
♤A note on art works :
All original Neo-Japonism art works and all original calligraphy works are painted and done by me. All poems are purely original.
♤A note on Giclee art prints :
All my art prints are high quality Giclee print.
I always use the professional DIA print image because it is simply better quality as Fine Art prints. My original art works are all photographed by my trusted professional photographer as soon as I finish with a new collection.
And I have to note that I do not do any extra Photoshop job in order to change the data.
♤A note on Colour!
Please keep in mind that the previews of my art that you see in my shop would probably appear slightly different in colour according to your monitor and its set-up. And they are certainly much brighter and livelier on print. I take my time and a pleasure in assuring beautiful colours in every art print. More beautiful in real life!
