The history of the world told through jewelry
My passion for contemporary and historical jewelry has inspired the New Histories Jewelry line: showing the rich history of jewelry to the public and attaching deep social value to what we wear.
Jewelry has been created for at least 100,000 years. One of the oldest known art forms, only second to the sound of the human voice. Why did they make jewelry? To adorn, attract, ritualize, and to symbolize community. As humans progressed jewelry came to represent family, marriage, fertility, fidelity, the life cycle, certain death, friendship, memories, patriotism, grief, pride, social and economic status, subversion, and of course beauty.
The jewelry we wear tells many stories, connecting us to our history and showcasing cultural values.
New Histories Jewelry takes you through a timeline: the history of the world told through jewelry.
