5 out of 5 starsBest Costumer Service Ever.
n
nThis is a perfect example of what it is to go above and beyond to rectify an unfortunate situation:
n
nDue to some communication errors, my order arrived a couple months after I had initially purchased. I left some nasty feedback when I hadn't heard back from Laura, only to find out she was terribly ill (much to my terrible embarrassment). I had asked for my money back and she apologized profusely and insisted on sending me the package anyway, free of charge. A couple days later, the package arrived. Initially I had ordered only one necklace, but she had enclosed yet another one. Not only that, but two full-sized leather journal books, which practically floored me. i'm a sucker for books, and handmade, and, these works of art are so beautiful I am completely dumbfounded. Everything is so well constructed. When I insisted on paying her anyway, she flat out refused. While I acknowledge the process took a long time, things happen, and as long as there is an effort to fix a situation, I'm always left happy. In this case, Laura could not have pleased me more. She takes her business seriously and customer service is obviously incredibly important to her. I will not hesitate to buy from her again! Her work is incredible and she is a wonderful seller on all fronts. Thanks again, Laura. :) -

About LauraCareyBooks
I love books so much, you guys.
I have been a lifelong bibliophile, and I have always loved the look of old books. ESPECIALLY anything obviously made by hand. So the seed of wanting to learn how to bind books was planted young.
Fast forward to my early twenties. I had helped to start the amazing arts collective Stitch N Kitsch (www.stitchnkitsch.com) and was proximity to a real live person who makes books. Amy from Nightjar books (www.nightjarbooks.etsy.com) to be specific. Her work is so lovely, tender and beautiful. I was so excited to see some handmade books up close and personal! Amy tried to teach me the basics of a coptic stitch but ended up advising that I try to learn from a book to get more info and keep trying. I did just that and ended up falling in love with the stitched structure.
Now I have been working on books for many years and I love to challenge myself to make each piece to the best of my abilities and push my skills to keep growing.

Additional policies and FAQs
For all custom items I ask for payment in two stages.
1. A deposit for half the agreed upon price (not including shipping) will start the sale.
Once this deposit is paid I will begin work on the order.
**This deposit is non-refundable in the unlikely event that the buyer does not complete the sale. This may sound strange, but this cost will cover my labor for the work on the piece. I have found that very few people initiate custom orders and then do not complete the purchase, but it does happen. Please understand that I am a one-woman show and every hour spent on a custom order that is not purchased is a dent out of my income.
2. After the custom work is complete, I will make a listing for the balance (the second half of the amount, plus the cost of shipping) to be paid by the buyer. Once the balance is paid the package will ship.
All custom orders are final sales. No exchanges or refunds on custom orders.
