Nerd Meets Aspiring Pirate

I started my shop in earnest in 2010 while in graduate school as a means for providing additional income, but these days I run my shop for the pleasure of it. I love being able to enable other peoples passion for collecting jewelry here at my Etsy shop!

My full time profession is as a wildlife biologist and I end up spending lots of time researching issues in wildlife conservation as a result. Right now, there is a major crisis going on in the wildlife world; unprecedented levels of poaching are seriously threatening the future of many beloved creatures such as elephants. For the remainder of the year I will be donating 10% of my net profits to one of my personal favorite organizations which does amazing work in Kenya: the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (more info and direct donations here: http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/). Orphaned baby elephants are rehabilitated by dedicated care takers and are eventually released back into the wild. In a time when poaching is decimating elephant populations, the work DSWT does is critically important. Please know buying from my store helps support this incredible organization and their life saving work!

LAYAWAYS: Yes, we can custom fit a layaway for you with the remittance of a non-refundable deposit.

HOLDS/RESERVES: I am happy to put an item on hold for 7 days following a serious inquiry.
Shipping
WHAT TO EXPECT:
I ship with maximum speed and safety as my goal. I use USPS mail, always add insurance, and sometimes will require a signature depending on the value of the piece (EMS, Priority, or First Class depending on value level and type of piece).

NOTE: A PO BOX IS FINE. I ship USPS. If your Confirmed address is a PO Box, that is perfectly okay.

NOTE: Occasionally USPS forgets to leave a pink slip, or it accidentally gets tossed in recycling with the junk mail! If your item is tardy, check the tracking number online, or call your local post office.

DELAYED PARCEL?
Please be willing to give your item some time to show up. In my time of selling online, I have never had a tracked item go missing permanently. Occasionally they get mis-routed and take extra time to arrive, especially during the Christmas season. Inclement weather in your area or any area between us can also play havoc with transit times.

PACKAGING:
My items are sent in small carton boxes with padding to protect your jewel. I pack using recycled materials whenever possible.
Refunds and Exchanges
REFUNDS: Because every refund and re-pay costs us both fees, I do not accept refunds. Before making a purchase, please be sure to ask all relevant questions and be 100% sure you want the item. I am very happy to answer all questions!
Additional policies and FAQs
I go out of town frequently, as it is the nature of my work; if I do not respond to emails, it is because I am currently not able to access email. I always get back to inquiries as soon as I possibly can.
