Nisse House of Art - Created, Reclaimed, Restyled, Salvaged & Discovered Art

We are a for-profit social enterprise art studio and shop creating opportunities for low income rural women and young girls at risk through building entrepreneurial skills, developing leadership, supporting goals and learning self-care and healthy lifestyles. We rent art studio space, offer workshops and sell quality artistic/craftsmen items, gifts and supplies to support our mission.
We offer curated fine arts and crafts mainly from Coulee Region artists/craftsmen though will include unique artwork from artists/craftsmen from around the world. Specialty craftsmanship and original artwork include paintings, prints, tiles, clothing, bonsai, terrariums, and musical instruments with an emphasis on reclaimed, salvaged, restyled and re-purposed items ranging from jewelry to furniture.
About Our Mission:
As a for-profit social enterprise, 10% of the gross profit goes toward development and support of leadership, entrepreneurial and healthy lifestyle programs for teenage girls at risk and women in poverty living in Vernon County. Short-term, Nisse House of Art intends to hire local low income women training them for managerial positions within the retail industry. Long-term, we are establishing a foundation to help women launch their own cottage industries within Vernon County and a scholarship fund to financially support low income women wanting to attend business and vocational school.
About the Founder:
Monica is a diverse artist who studies and specializes in creating bonsai, topiary, terrariums and landscape design. With an artistic eye for quality design, beauty and color and a big heart for service, Monica reclaims, restyles, re-purposes and creates fine arts and crafts from jewelry to furniture. You can also catch her sketching portraits, practicing various needle works and trying her hand at anything creative, challenging and fun.

Returns and exchanges
Please keep in mind that vintage items had a past life, were previously used and (hopefully) loved. While we try to find excellent and near-mint items, some wear and flaws can be expected. We make every effort to give accurate descriptions and provide good pictures. Bottom line though, we want you to be happy with your purchase. Returns will be accepted on a case-by-case basis only, with return shipping at the buyer's expense.
We accept PayPal, Etsy gift cards and Etsy Direct Checkout.

Do you see something you love, but don't have the $$ for a day or two? We will be happy to reserve anything in the shop for you for up to 7 days. Just send a message and let us know.
Whenever possible, we make every effort to ship on the day of payment (Monday-Saturday) by USPS Priority Mail or Standard Post with insurance/tracking, when applicable.

Shipping is estimated to the farthest point from us in the US ~ if you live closer to Wisconsin, your shipping might actually be less. We refund any overage higher than $2.00. If your actual shipping comes to more than the estimate, you only pay the estimated amount. In some cases, shipping to Alaska or Hawaii is significantly more expensive than to the continental US and requires a separate cost. If that is the case, we will message you with the information.

We love to ship internationally though sometimes the cost is higher than the price of the item (especially in the case of heavy items)! If your country is not listed in an item's shipping information, please message us and we will be pleased to add your country.

Due to vintage items not being uniform in size or weight, a standard cost for shipping with an additional item cannot be easily calculated though we do our best to estimate it. If the actual combined cost is less than estimated, we will refund any overage over $2.00. If the combined cost is more than estimated ~ you will only pay the estimated amount.

If you would like an actual shipping price in advance of purchase, just message us with your country or zip code, as well as on combined items. Shipping your items to you in a safe, sound and quickly manner is our first priority.
Additional policies and FAQs
We value sustainable, creative and cost-effective packaging. We reuse boxes, packaging materials and practice fun ways to give you an extra surprise like wrapping items with fabric when applicable. Who doesn't love to get a wrapped present in the mail? We will be happy to gift-wrap your item and include a personal note if you are having it sent directly to someone as a gift. Just let us know when you check out.

If you would like to see if we have an item you are seeking or want us to watch for it, please message us. We love the thrill of the hunt and often can find a specific item for you or already have it in our art studio!
