Extremely well made purse. Perfect size & material for a day/night on the town. Nancy was able to add a body strap to it for a very slight additional cost. I can't wait to use it!

After years of searching for a pocketbook with a water bottle sleeve, I finally thought to have one made by Nancy. This bag is the perfect size for my everyday life- enough pockets, not oversized, and the "must have" bottle sleeve. I love everything about this bag, plus the ease of working with Nancy. I can't recommend her products highly enough.
Practical and Pretty
I was inspired to make my first crossbody bag as I watched my mom lose her balance while trying to juggle her handbag and a cane. I decided to fashion a bag that would meet all her needs; the bag would have a secure compartment for her wallet and keys, an open pocket for handy access to lipstick and tissues, and she would be able to hold it close and still have both hands free. And I wanted to make it with materials I already owned. So with bits of upholstery fabric, repurposed pillows and zippers, I made my first crossbody bag. After making purses for my mom, daughter, sisters and nieces, I opened Nittywitter. Thus began my journey on Etsy!
I love the design challenges involved in making purses and have discovered that people have very specific likes and dislikes in the bags they carry. Some swear by streamline and compact styles, while others love wide open totes. That’s why I enjoy making several styles and offering made-to-order options.
Another challenge I enjoy is using repurposed materials whenever possible. I find great, reusable purse hardware on commercially produced bags that have been discarded. Beyond the ecological benefits, repurposing give people the chance to take materials from a treasured item that is no longer used and have them transformed into functional new items. For example, last year I repurposed a grocery tote from pillows of batik fabric that my stepdaughter brought back from study abroad in Ghana. She cherished the fabric, but no longer had a use for the pillows. Now she gets to rekindle precious memories every time she buys groceries.
My Etsy shop provides a wonderful opportunity to hone existing skills, learn new techniques and be part of a creative community in a way that promotes the values I care about.

Please dry clean or spot clean your bags. Most of the outer fabrics I use are upholstery fabric and can withstand heavy use and spot cleaning.
