From Cats to Cross Stitch

I was born and raised in Federal Way, WA, but have lived in Chula Vista, CA for almost 40 years with my husband and an assortment of cats, who totally run our lives.

I learned to knit, crochet, sew, and embroider at a very early age and have done all extensively in the past, but now cross stitch almost exclusively. I have a huge collection of old cross stitch leaflets as well as tons of other supplies. I have played an active part in the online cross stitch community for many years and in 2014 founded World Cross Stitch Day.

I started designing for my own personal use by importing pictures into a cross stitch program and then spending countless hours cleaning up the output until I ended up with something I wanted to stitch. Eventually this evolved into creating my own simple designs and putting them online for free. Always up for a challenge I decided to see if my designs would sell and No Frogs Allowed was born.

I mainly do blackwork patterns as I have never been that great at drawing and I, personally, really, really enjoy backstitching. Also, I feel that blackwork gives the stitcher the greatest opportunity to be creative and experiment with different colors and different flosses and make something that is uniquely theirs.

Be creative, be stitchy..........
