These earrings are so beautiful!!! I purchased a different style over two years ago and they still look as good as when I first received them, and they are used heavily.

About

Nomad Earrings: Born from a journey

Before Nomad Earrings even existed, it was so many things to me. It was the kind of gut-wrenching laughter that makes tears stream down your face and makes you think you’ll never be able to breathe again. It was campfires, friends, desert sun, mountain air, salty breezes, kelp popping, warm sand, crashing waves, long hugs, cold beer, warm beer, willow trees, guitar sing-a-longs, hammock naps, and fireflies. It was the beautiful silence of giant falling snowflakes. It was boxed wine, BB guns and beer cans, full moons, hot springs, grandmas and grandpas, moms and dads, Yahtzee, shenanigans, and skinny dipping. It was the wrinkles around a person’s eyes carved out by years of smiling.

Before Nomad Earrings existed, it was just nomad. Me. It was my life of traveling to climb rocks, laugh, and spend as much time as possible with the people that I love.

I don’t want Nomad Earrings to be a typical company. There are enough of those. I want to recognize a lifestyle that I’ve come to love: A lifestyle that I’m very much a part of and want to sustain, a lifestyle of simple happiness. I want to recognize that we all travel, and that travel means something different to everyone. Maybe it’s hopping on a flight and trekking through Nepal, maybe it’s losing yourself in a book, maybe it’s starting a family, or going to the park, maybe it’s eating dinner with someone you care about. Each decision we make takes us to a new place, far or close, real or imagined, high peak or friend’s couch. And where we travel really doesn’t matter as long as we’re excited about the journey.

Each pair of Nomad Earrings goes on a journey to get to you. The designs are all original, hand drawings. Those drawings become patterns. Those patterns are laser cut out of scrap wood. After that, each pair gets a couple of hours of hand sanding, to smooth and round all the rough edges. Then I apply two simple ingredients: beeswax and mineral oil. No crazy chemicals, just mineral oil and beeswax to finish them and seal them. (After all, these will go in your ears so they contain only natural materials.) Finally, I burn a signature “N” into each earring as my final send off before they are shipped to you.

The best part of Nomad Earrings, for me, is that they travel with me. These earrings are truly made on the road. I’ve sanded earrings in the desert, on a plane, with my mom and sister, on my best friend’s couch, and even out on backpacking trips in the mountains. When you purchase these earrings, you help me to sustain the simple lifestyle that I’ve come to enjoy-a life rich in amazing people and unforgettable experiences.

I've always been a traveler...a nomad. I thrive off of seeing new places and meeting new people. Nomad Earrings has been a natural extension of my lifestyle. All of my earring making supplies can travel with me. Life inspires the designs.

Joe is the reason that Nomad Earrings is named Nomad Earrings. He settled the Nomad vs. Gypsy debate. Since then he has patiently donated his time and expertise. He laser cuts the earrings in his "spare" time in his life as a talented architect.

Well hello there!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
All major credit cards are accepted.

I am a firm believer in the barter system. Please contact me to discuss trades.
Shipping
For orders shipping to the US, I will ship all orders through the friendly folks at the United States Postal Service. Orders will ship First class with tracking and will ship in 1-3 business days from the time of purchase (usually ships within 1 business day).

I welcome and encourage international orders. The international shipping rates are shown for each individual item. I will ship the item within 3 business days of purchase, but of course international shipping times vary. The buyer is responsible for any charges imposed by Customs.
Refunds and Exchanges
I am open to all reasonable requests for refunds. I want you to LOVE your Nomad Earrings so please contact me if you have any concerns. Here's an example: A person who purchased a pair of the Willow earrings lost one on a backpacking trip. I replaced it free of charge! Did you drop one on the floor and break it the first day you had it? Let me know, I'll send you a new one. Usually the weak wood gets weeded out during the rigorous sanding process, but sometimes they just unexpectedly break. And that sucks! So, please, don't hesitate to contact me! Life happens, let's make the best of it!
