Announcement   Hi, If you're looking at my shop then you're probably interested in African Fair Trade, Handmade, Ethical and Recycled beads. We’ve had a very successful time recently both here on Etsy and at the local Xmas Markets. In the New Year more items will be added to this shop to replace those recently sold. Keep looking at our page and thanks to those who have brought from Nomvula Crafts. Here you will find beads from Mzuribeads Uganda as well as Fair Trade beads from Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Burkina Faso and South Africa. Please read my Shipping Profile before buying especially if you live outside Australia. October 2017 and Australia Post have just increased their postage rates. Sometimes the shipping costs mean I can send you 2 or 3 packs of beads for the same price as 1 pack of bead. You will also find Ethnic Style Jewelry created with African Beads together with other beadable products. Enjoy! Webale Nnyo (thank you in Ugandan) Chris of Nomvula Crafts.

About

The Creation of Nomvula Crafts and its travels from England, Eire, Africa and now Australia

Nomvula is the Xhosa word for 'After the Rain'. Without rain nature would not survive and it's my love of nature and travel that has inspired my work. It's my love of Africa, it's people and my belief in Sustainable Rural Development which has led me to create Nomvula Crafts.

By buying African beads you will be helping people in the communities to create a living in order for them to retain their pride, send their children to school and help their local economy. For information on Mzuribeads Uganda please read their webpage www.mzuribeads.com where you will find photos and information on the people who create these beads and how your buying these beads will benefit them. These beads are Fair Trade, Ethical, Recycled, Handmade and Ugandan.

I also buy beads from a source in Ghana who buys the beads direct from the local artisans there and ensures they are paid a fair price. These beads too are Fair Trade, Handmade, Recycled and Ethical but Ghanian. I am continually looking for beads from other African countries which will be appearing in my shop.

Nomvula Crafts is based in Queensland Australia. Here I create hand dyed fabric which sometimes I block print. I also use the beads from Africa and other countries to create hand made jewellery which I take to my local markets. My Etsy shop and attending my local markets is my way of relaxing. During the day I work as a Home Care Support Worker for the Elderly and by doing so I am enabling them to continue to live in their own homes and the local community.

Welcome to my shop where I hope you enjoy looking at the handmade crafts I have to sell. Here you will find handmade items created by Mzuribeads of Uganda as well as some items made by myself.

Mzuribeads of Uganda are Fair Trade and handmade by local artisans in and around Kampala Uganda. Prices for the beads therefore reflect an appropriate price for the hardwork put in by the co-operatives that make up Mzuribeads. You will find more recently beads from Ghana too, these are Fair Trade and handmade too. If you're looking at this page then you're interested in all things Fair Trade, Handmade and Ethical.

Payment
Paypal is accepted but you don't need a Paypal account to pay with Paypal. Just follow the payment instructions to be guided through the payment procedure. If postage/packaging is less than quoted when I go to my local post office I always reimburse the buyer and an email will be sent informing the buyer.

Etsy Payments now means that I can accept Credit Card, Paypal etc.
Shipping
As soon as payment is received your order will be shipped by Airmail with Australia Post. I ship worldwide and if you would rather your item be posted by Registered Post with Australia Post then please contact me before you buy so that I can provide you with a price for your approval. Shipping prices include postage and packaging. If postage & packaging is less than quoted when I go to my local post office I always reimburse the buyer and an email will be sent informing the buyer. Please allow at least 21 days for your package to arrive if you live outside Australia. If after this time you have not received your package then please contact me and I will try to sort out this problem.

Australia Post prices are not as cheap as in some other countries due to the distances that your package will have to travel. Some of my beads are of the shape that they can not fit into letter packaging and so have to be posted as a parcel. This does mean though that it is sometimes cheaper to buy 2 packs of beads as the postage will be the same for the 2 packs as for one eg large barkcloth beads it is the same price to post for 2 packs as for 1 pack. Another example is that it is the same price to send you 3 packs of paper beads as for 1 pack of paper beads. If you are in doubt please email/convo me and I will check out the price for you. Shipping costs include the cost of postage and packaging and I try and wrap your beads securely so they arrive in a good condition.

Should your goods arrived damaged please let me know as soon as possible and we will discuss how to rectify.
