I couldn't resist getting a child sized one for my daughter so we have mommy daughter matching my ones!

My little one keeps this hat on. All the other hats usually disappear within 10 seconds. I love mine a lot! I've received a lot of compliments from friends. It's super cute! You can also feel Ivy's sincerity and nothing beats that. I am hooked!

About

Life is About Creating and Connecting...

I believe life is about creating whatever makes you happiest, whether that's creating chunky knit items, painting, making music, growing something, upcycling or recycling items into works of art, cooking, writing, or any other of an infinite number of things, and then connecting and sharing with others.

Creating what we love makes the world beautiful and interesting, and what helps give us all fulfilling lives.

Connecting to others and sharing comes next - create and then connect and share with the world. That's what I'm doing and why I'm here!

I love the feel of fabric in my hands and in between my fingers, and there's something deeply satisfying about watching a skein of yarn or pile of fabric come to life, knowing someone will wear that item. What's more important to me is sharing what I make with others. We all acquire beautiful items from different places and from one another in our lives, creating a network of shared artwork throughout the world. I love wearing something I know someone else lovingly made through their passion of creating, and I hope others feel the same about the items I create.

All of these reasons (along with gentle prodding from family and friends) prompted me to open this store, and I'm really excited to be open for business! I plan on learning more and more about creating knit goods, from knitting to crocheting to non-traditional ways of weaving and manipulating fabric, and can't wait to share it with you!

My day job is in Environmental, Health & Safety, which opened my eyes to manufacturing processes and the impact on the environment, as well as worker treatment and safety. For that reason, it's my mission to source as many materials as possible from ethical vendors in the United States who are using raw materials and manufacturing processes that are not harmful to workers or the environment. It's not always possible at the moment, but my goal is to one day certify that all my products are made in the USA down to the fiber and dye, using safe, environmentally and worker-friendly processes!

Thanks for taking the time to read my story!

Additional policies and FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When will I get my order?
A: All ready-made items will ship within three business days. I strive to ship the next business day, but sometimes it's on day two or three. Any exceptions to this policy are noted in the item description. Custom orders require a minimum of an additional one to two days to make and ship out after we settle on all the details. You'll be provided an estimated ship date once your custom order is confirmed.

Q: How do I care for the item?
A: Please refer to the item description for care instructions or contact me for help. Most blends I use for handmade items are technically machine washable and dryable, but I don't recommended it unless explicitly noted in the item description. For most items, I recommended you hand wash gently and air dry, reshaping on a flat surface.

Q: Is your shop smoke-free and/or pet-free?
A: Items are made in a smoke-free environment, but there are two gigantic dogs lumbering around, and while I try, no guarantees can be made that a stray dog hair won't make it into your package. Think of it as Maggie and Stranger sending their love!

Q: Are there any other care tips for this item?
A: Yes! Some stretching may happen over time for crocheted or knitted items, although the items are made a little smaller with that in mind. It is also normal to have some variation in the stitches, and because it's a looser knit, they may pull on pointy items or even your fingers. If that happens, simply remove the item, and gently tug in opposite directions from the pulled stitch. Also, the ends of the fabric are secured on all items, but if they do come loose, simply use the blunt end of a crochet hook or something similar to push them back in place (or use a large needle like a tapestry needle to weave back into place). If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Q: Do you guarantee your items to last?
A: Of course! All items are made to last for years as long as they are cared for properly. Northern Ivy Knits & Goods is not responsible for items that were not cared for as described, damaged once received, or lost. I do guarantee the workmanship, and if you feel you have a claim, just give me a shout.

Q: Do you make custom orders?
A: Yes! Just click on "Request Custom Order" on the homepage of my shop to start a conversation about what you're looking for, or select "Contact Shop Owner" to drop me a line.

Q: Do you sell wholesale or consignment, or offer group discounts?
A: I'd love to talk to you about any opportunities like this! Please drop me a line via northernivyknits -at- gmail -dot- com to discuss.
