Shotridge Studios: featuring the art of Tlingit Artist Israel Shotridge, Jewelry by Sue & Israel Shotridge, Sealskin Jewelry by Autumn Shotridge
We are a Native-owned art studio located on Vashon Island in the heart of Puget Sound, a quick ferry ride from Seattle or Tacoma.
Our featured artist, Tlingit Master Carver Israel Shotridge, was born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska in the heart of the Tongass National Forest which was named after his tribal ancestors; the Tongass Tribe (Taantakwaan), the Sea Lion people. Israel is a member of the Bear Clan, which in Tlingit is written as "Teikweidee." Israel's Tlingit name, Kinstaadaal, means "The Bear That's Standing Up." Israel has created traditional and contemporary works of art for public, corporate and private art collectors for over 25 yrs. We invite you to explore the Tlingit culture through Israel's art. Fine art collectors as well as Native art enthusiasts can take with them a greater appreciation for the art of the Tlingit people.
Israel accepts commissions on a limited basis: totem poles, bentwood boxes, carved panels, glass, jewelry, etc.
In addition to our Etsy shop, we also have a wonderful gallery and gift shop on Vashon Island, called "Raven's Nest". The Shotridges are active members of the Vashon community for 20 yrs. as well as leaders in the Northwest Coast Native Art world. They have shared their knowledge and art skills with the community at large in many ways, offering Native art workshops, lectures, and special events. For all of you Native art enthusiasts as well as art collectors, it’s well worth the trip to Vashon to check out the Raven’s Nest Native Art Gallery & Giftshop !
You can find us here: www.vashonravensnest.com
Isreal's wife, Sue Shotridge, is the major force behind the exhibits and activities sponsored by the Raven’s Nest and is an Artist in her own right. Sue earned her BFA in Jewelry & Metals from NAU in Flagstaff, AZ. As a Jewelry Designer , Sue often creates jewelry for the gallery and collaborates on jewelry pieces with husband Israel Shotridge. Israel and Sue's daughter, Autumn, contributes beautiful hand-beaded leather and sealskin medicine pouches, earrings, and accessories. Sue and Autumn are members of the Tlingit tribe, Kiksadi (Raven/Frog) of Wrangell, Alaska.
If you're ever in the Seattle/Tacoma area, we'd love to meet you at Raven's Nest Gallery on beautiful Vashon Island! Welcome to our online shop, and enjoy your stay!
