The buttons are adorable. My only complaint is that the picture has a lot of purple in it and the buttons have virtually none. I got them to go on a purple sweater I'm knitting and they would have looked a lot better If they had been as pictured.

Blurring the lines between my dream world and reality...

After years of dreaming and trying to discover what my “perfect” job would be it was a six hour overnight trip from Tokyo that cemented my plans. As I sat reminiscing over my life in Japan I kept trying to figure out how everyday could be as beautiful as the one I'd just had. My dream has always been to have a job I loved and after years of studying across several disciplines and a number of jobs I realised it was time to reassess. My happiest times are those when I can sit in my work space for hours on end, creating beautiful accessories and dreaming up new ideas. I wanted a job where my dreaming was an asset where my creativity could be fostered. So after years of saying no to turning my dream into my work I decided it was time to take the risk. So as the bus sped away from Tokyo and one of the happiest days I had ever experienced I decided it was time to make every day this happy by extracting the essence of my dreams and using it to shape a new reality.

I’m currently living with my fiancé on the Gold Coast, Australia. My business is located in the spare room of our two bedroom apartment, its now my craft studio! Drenched in natural light with ocean breezes and with the city buzzing around me I dream of centuries past and and yearn for remembered moments of the sublime as I work with my hands to capture the feeling of these nostalgic thoughts.

I'm inspired by the acceptance of childlike innocence which I experienced while living in Japan. I'm taking a nostalgic approach to crafting, remembering childhood and creating an idyllically innocent dream world. I'm also inspired by my yearning to live in pre-industrial England when everything was handmade and my favourite literary characters roamed the imagined country side. I love to sew and bead as I dream of living a simpler life.

I try to source textiles that are quirky, cute and embody the Japanese term kawaii. I look for patterns that give me a feeling of nostalgia. Prints of Little Red Riding hood that remind me of growing up with the scary stories of The Brothers Grimm or vintage styled macaroons that take me on imaginings of 1930’s Paris.

Every item comes with a dream, a story I’ve imagined and tried to capture within the work. It speaks of a shared nostalgia, of a desire to forever capture those moments of aching beauty as we experience a truly sublime moment.
