Collecting wherever I go... I was recently visiting my daughter in France, during the Summer. This is when the locals, clean out their apartments, houses and attics, to sell at open air community markets. I came home with boxes of vintage smalls and will offer many here.

My handmade items are carefully created with vintage, sourced materials and made from my studio in the mountains, Victoria, Australia.

I am also a visual artist and run my arts practice from a studio, in Melbourne Australia and sometimes, from a petite studio in Paris, France. Please see more at my ABOUT page https://www.etsy.com/shop/Nostalgi/about/

I inherited 8 napkin rings from my grandmother and have added to my collection. This chick came all the way from Australia so I did't expect it to come as quickly as it did. It is a great, authentic ring and I really like it. The chick looks angry, which made me smile.

About

Ateliernostalgi. Quality, antique vintage items, unique handmade & interesting supplies.

Shipped worldwide to your door! “AtelierNostalgi”, born out of my love of all things antique, vintage old, torn, worn rusted, with a nice dusting of patina. I collect wherever I go...Many of my vintage finds come from France, Europe and Australia.

My handmade items are mostly created from vintage sourced materials and discarded, abandoned, objects and materials.

I grew up in a "make do and mend" family, where nothing much was thrown away and would be if mended or, repurposed into something else.

I am also, a contemporary visual artist and run my arts practice from a studio in Melbourne, Australia and from a petite studio in Paris, France, I call "The Cubicle" http://outlook8studio.etsy.com

A bit more about my life!
Collecting can become so addictive, especially for an artist. Found and discarded objects are the inspiration and starting point for most of my artwork and ideas. It can trigger off an instant idea and give me a vision to work with. I think this is why I love museums, as display and arranging objects are an important part of my sculpture and photography work.

I have been collecting since I was born. I used to hide stuff under my bed in boxes as a child. As an adult, I’m still putting stuff into boxes, plastic bags and other strange things. I view my collections as arrangements. They are all art installations scattered around my home and studio, as well as, material for use in my arts projects

Walking through the streets to the local shop I always come home with something foot trodden. A piece of paper, packaging, a bright piece of plastic, glass all, will be used in my art, eventually.

When I travel I pick up off the ground, bottle tops, lolly papers, wires bright bits of plastic, papers. On a tour in Europe the whole bus load of passengers collected bottle tops for me.

My stuff may brood for years in a dark space or cupboard, till I come across it again, sending me off on another project.

Found photographs, tell stories about people and places I’ll never know about, so, I make up my own.

I collect, metal detector finds, broken jewelry, postcards, scientific stuff, wire, tin's, boxes, bones, animal skeletons, watches, eye glasses, shriveled things, found numbers and fonts from keyboards, packaging, all sorts paper, vintage & antique textiles, old clothes and books, wall paper, seashells, driftwood, snow-globes, toys, children’s books and so much more.

I find them in op shops, cities, airports underground spaces, beaches, garage sales, friends houses and sometimes, EBay, though, part of the fun and attraction for me is, the actual finding of an object, or material, that is discarded and thrown away to renew it into something else or, just show its beauty, as it is.

Collections of stuff are also extremely important for future generations too. 100’s of years from now, someone may come across a piece of fabric, wallpaper ,lolly paper, box ,bone etc that will give them information on how we lived in our time, in our place.

Collections are also portraits of those who love to glean…..
