About

Cozied up in the green mountains amongst family and tea, creating.

Many creative interests have come and gone over the years, tea blending, free-form sewing (patterns mystify my dyslexic brain to this day), embroidery I still pick up now and again, voice, piano and acoustic bass once upon a time, tried knitting, my mom and I love chalk painting and making natural body care together... but jewelry is what I always come back to.

Nearly a decade ago I found a beat up 1930's dictionary in a big box my parents were sending to recycling and I thought to myself... "Self, these illustrations are much too beautiful to throw away... There must be SOMETHING I can do with them to give them a new life." And within a few months of tinkering my Dictionary line was born. There is such variety in the subject matter of the illustrations, I love seeing which ones speak to who and why people fall in love with different pieces. It is never boring and I still love it.

I started thinking of jewelry more seriously as a business when my health no longer permitted me to work. I have dealt with systemic lupus and a "constellation" of autoimmune diseases as my doctor calls it since grade school and was able to work part time and even spend a year or two travelling abroad at different times in my life but things have changed now with the development of Hashimotos thyroiditis. Being forced to take stock of my priorities and really having to think about day to day life in terms of "rationing energy" has been discouraging at times but ultimately I strive to let it make me a stronger person, to grab hold of what I CAN do and make the most of it.

Thanks to Etsy, a few local outlets, and ultimately you lot, the individuals who fall in love with my pieces and want to own them, I am able to contribute to my family financially in spite of health problems and that... is pretty cool.
