I make pictures... always have
A little background…
Although I have worked with photography off and on throughout my life, I started focusing on it in earnest in the mid 90’s when I started a new career as a high school art teacher. To be able to teach photography, I needed to refresh myself on the basics. And that was when I realized that I enjoyed using photographic processes as a way of making images. I use various methods to capture and process images, using digital and analog methods, pinhole and toy cameras, and most recently have started using my iPhone and apps.
As photographer Chase Jarvis says, “the best camera is the one that’s with you.” Because I always have my phone with me, I always have a camera as well. It’s easy and quick to use, and allows me to capture moments and images that I might have otherwise missed or even ignored. I also enjoy working with a combination of apps to further develop the image. IPhoneography allows me to work in a spontaneous, experimental and playful manner.
I opened my Etsy shop, Notion Images, so that I could share some of my iPhone images. Because I appreciate artistry, originality and creativity, my own walls are filled with handmade images by many artists. I find that I am constantly inspired by surrounding myself with creative work of all kinds.
I hope you will take the time to look at all of my work. Perhaps there is an image that will inspire you, as well.
