Swatch Book & Picture Galleries: https://oddbodkin.smugmug.com/Swatches

Measurement Charts & Info: http://tinyurl.com/obmeasure

Everything is absolutely customizable (unless explicitly stated for OOAK pieces) so just email and ask about it.

If you've seen something on my website or on another client but don't see it here, ask about that too. It's all about finding the right fit for each person, and I don't just mean literally!

Each order is lovingly hand crafted and sewn right here in the great state of Texas. As such, it takes some time, not just because of the work we put into each piece, but because there are many other orders already in queue. It make take up to 10 weeks and potentially longer for extremely customized pieces to reach you.

Please be patient, but let us know if you need a rush job. We are willing to sacrifice our sleep and leisure time given the right incentives.

If you're near the Houston area and would like an in-house consultation, just give me a buzz and we can book you an appointment.

About

Inspired by History, Designed for You!

We've been in business since 2001, but really it started out in 1997 when we started out making garb and leather goods in our basement for the local cast of the Ohio Renaissance Festival. It was strictly a hobby business and let us help out some poor Rennies who otherwise would have been naked. That might be period, but it's not decent! Especially in Ohio!!

Numerous moves and gypsy-ing about the country has landed us in Houston, Texas.

We specialize in custom garb creations that are durable, beautiful and comfortable. Each item is hand cut from our signature patterns (no commercial patterns were harmed in the making of your garb) then individually crafted just for you.

Aside from my shop cats; Dora, Morris, Sylvia, Tortillini and Figaro, this is a one woman show. I'm not using any sort of mass production or assembly line, so please be patient as I hand make your garb. :D

Crafting time is currently 8-10 weeks, but can vary during busy times or for complex projects. I want to give you my best work, not my rushed work, or my stressed out work. This is my craft and is a creative process that I can't just "phone in". I've got to be present, healthy and inspired to do my best. If I mess something up, I will make it right.

Fittings & consultations are available to those in the Houston area. Call or text 937-317-4420 to make an appointment.

Shipping
USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation for Domestic and International orders.

International buyers may have to pay customs fees. There is nothing I can do about this as I have no influence over international law. :)

Contact your local post office to find out the particulars on duty fees.
Refunds and Exchanges
Custom orders do not qualify for a refund but may qualify for an exchange or alteration if it doesn't fit.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges.

If you just don't like the item/color when you receive it, this can be difficult because we made it especially for you. In cases where this happens, we can, at our discretion, offer you a store credit to be used on Etsy.

If the item is lost, damaged, destroyed, etc in shipping, unless you have insurance, we can't help you.

For supplies (like buttons, boning, grommets, etc) we do offer a refund. Buyer will pay for return shipping and will be refunded the purchase price minus shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
We do our very best to give quality customer service. During busy periods, some delays in communication happen. Please be patient with us. :)

Our primary concern is customer satisfaction. It's a big deal to us. If there are any problems at all, your best bet is to contact us even if this policy page covers your situation. We will do whatever we can to help resolve things to your satisfaction.

Worst case scenario? Call us! 937-317-4420 (you can also text). Sometimes I'm chained to the sewing machine and don't answer email as quickly, but I will answer the phone!

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Bodices can be spot cleaned with upholstery cleaner or mild soap and lukewarm water. Check for colorfastness on a hidden area first. Febreez and air out your bodice if it gets musty smelling. Use a steamer for cleaning/pressing.

If your bodice is particularly dirty, try to remove most of the mud/mess while it's dry with a stiff brush. Then, hang in the shower, spray with lukewarm water, and let drip dry.

Dry cleaning or machine washing is NOT recommended. Use these same directions for doublets.

Chemises, skirts, bloomers, pants, shirts, etc can be machine washed in warm water on permanent press, then machine dry on low until damp, then hang to dry completely. Iron can be used on poly blend setting.

For other garments, email.

Wholesale availability

Odd Bodkin is a one woman show, so wholesale is not available.

Custom and personalized orders

I love doing custom orders! Email with your ideas and pictures and we can collaborate or call and make an appointment if you are in Houston. You can come into the studio, touch the fabric and make all the decisions! No worries! I'll walk you through it either through email or in person.

Rush Orders

Rush orders are on a case by case basis and may require an additional fee for a guaranteed ship by/in hand date. Please give me as much time as possible to make your garb!

Are your bodices reversible?

None of my bodices are reversible. They way they are constructed allows me (or my clients) to easily repair broken boning strips and prevents permanent damage to the fabric if/when the boning wears through the bone casing.

Metal is always going to win against fabric eventually, and by making bodices this way, I can extend the life of the bodice for many years.
