Announcement   Following is a sampling of the work adorning the walls of the Garage Gallery in the Mission District of San Francisco. Vintage themes, places and people, conjuring memories and nostalgia. Most work on display is based on the vintage expansion principle, which is that small found objects can look pretty spiffy when blown up to a large scale. I started with postage stamps (pastpostage on Etsy) but quickly expanded to matchbooks, baseball cards, concert tickets and postcards all the while slowly delving into a personal photographic catalog decades in the making. Images are printed on archival quality materials, be it exhibition grade canvas with a gloss UV coating or a thick museum grade natural cold press paper. Every aspect involving the creation of these pieces is done on premises. What is on display here can be resized to fit any space.

You are welcome to stop by with an appointment.

All custom orders considered.

Thank you.

About

Practices Involving the Vintage Expansion Principle

I started taking little things, made them bigger. I focused on postage stamps for a while and became prolific enough to open a shop here on Etsy called pastpostage. It's about taking vintage stamps or what have you, scanning, cleaning, enlarging, printing, coating, making frames, stretching, mounting and packaging them in my nook, a garage space in the Mission District. I have had a few shows in the garage gallery and around town, in cafes, salons, bars, restaurants - even a biofuel place. Right from the get go I was going beyond postage stamps to matchbooks, lighters, concert tickets, vintage photography, vintage baseball cards, even satellite imagery of the Earth. Each new show created the challenge to make a new set that hadn't been seen before. I created this new store to contain some of the offshoots of my graphic wanderings. It may get confusing. The best method is to use the shop sections listed on the main page and please feel free to ask any questions. Custom sizes and special orders are always considered.

Shipping
I tend to use USPS for most of the smaller items. Once a piece gets to a certain size I move to UPS or FedEx. Shipping charges of large scale items usually varies by final destination so the quoted amounts in the shipping portion of a listing could be inaccurate. In the event of an overcharge refunds are gladly given. Reversely, kindly keep in mind that expedited overseas shipping of large scale items can sometimes cost more than the actual artwork! If there are any concerns over shipping costs please start a conversation with me and I can give a more accurate cost once I know the destination. Fair enough?
Refunds and Exchanges
Of course, things can happen. If something does, let me know and I'm sure we can work something out.
