Passionately Inspired by the History and Culture of Ogham

Dia dhuit! Hello! I'm Colleen Berry Conway.

I am the primary artist of Ogham Art, a specialty gift business featuring works written in Ogham, the first written form of the Irish language. Founded in October 2010 by me and my husband Chris, Ogham Art’s offerings include presentations of words and phrases that are first translated into Irish and then written using the Ogham alphabet. The Ogham Art studio is located in Southington, Connecticut.

ART
All prints start with my paintings and are then printed using the tactile approach of a five-color, dimensional process. I frame, mat and label each piece in my studio.

JEWELRY & BARWARE
Each piece of jewelry and barware is designed by Ogham Art and crafted in sterling silver, pewter, wood and stainless steel by the gifted hands of local artisans and craftspeople. All final assembly, tagging, and packaging occurs in my studio.

SLATE PLAQUES
I meticulously paint each slate plaque in multiple layers of vibrancy and shadowing. The Pennsylvania-mined slates are then sealed and securely packaged in my warehouse and studio.

TATTOOS
All tattoo files are scans of my original paintings. My mark is a blend of precision and flair. Each word or name is crafted with a measured guide and accented with a dollop of paint at the top and a wisp of the brush at the bottom.

I am driven to create based on history, culture and passion. I can't paint just anything. There needs to be a meaning, a mystery, a purpose behind my subject. Ogham Art has allowed me to dive into ancient history and morph it with modern presentation. Your presence written in the past. That's what I call it....

Each Ogham Art creation begins with a painting. What happens to my painting after that can vary. In most cases, it is digitally scanned and then transferred to another medium: paper, pewter, silver, wood, slate, vinyl, etc.
