Emma is such a lovely person who really makes you feel involved in the making of your doll, and listens to every suggestion or wish you may have! I honestly could not be happier with the outcome - my doll is just as I imagined, if not better - and I am extremely grateful for the kindness and enthusiasm Emma showed during the making of my beautiful doll! ^-^

This is the CUTEST thing in the world! My friend recommended you, she'd purchased one of your dolls for me (affectionately called BatCat) and I wanted to pass on a little bit of happiness to my girlfriend. She's going to love him!! Thank you xxx

About

Ogl Doll...The Tale of my Dolls Creation

Hello and welcome to Ogl Doll.

I joined Etsy early March 2012, after a work colleague told me about it.
I love how Etsy allows an astounding community of artists and crafters from all over the globe, to come together and share and discuss their amazing talents and experiences. This is what persuaded me to join
and I have never looked back since.

I come from of family of talented crafters and graphic marketing, my mother was always fantastic at drawing, my father worked in POS and marketing and my Grandfather was a director in the press industry many moons ago!

Art and design has been a huge part of my life aver since the day that I began to walk and talk. Unlike most children my age, I would spend hours just drawing and painting, I'd rather be caped in Poster Paint and Papier Mache than pushing around a doll and pram!
From around the age of five I pestered my mother to teach me how to sew. I had seen her creations that she had made as a young child and wanted to get in on the action myself. She used to buy me those 'make your own' plush animal kits and ever since then I have been hooked on needle craft. Words will never describe how much I just love to design and craft, Every day is one huge and exciting creative adventure!

Being a graphic designer and illustrator has allowed me to come up with the templates and branding that I produce for my own range of plush toys and accessories and I am extremely grateful for the many years of experience that I possess.

I have a huge passion for Japanese illustration and toy design. I just love their incredible use of colour and their ability to create such utterly cute and individual character designs.
I possess a vast collection of vinyl figurines, designed by various artists who share similar inspirations as myself. Both of these elements highly influence the design process of my unique creations.

My dolls are for anyone, not just children, but toy enthusiasts, artisans
of all genres or those who just like something a little bit different.
Each of my Ogl Dolls are individually sewn and carefully stuffed by hand. I use pretty much any material that I can get my hands on.
My favourites include fleece, faux fur and cottons. I also recycle fabrics, such as the cotton from my old dresses, tops and jeans. Each doll is finished off with a fabric illustration and, or coloured buttons and glitter. I also flush the cheeks with a little fabric paint to add extra softness to their expression.
There are so many textures that allow me to create something beautiful, fun and unique and that's what I love about fabric. It's so incredibly versatile beyond belief!

Now. You're probably wondering How I came up with the name for my brand? The very early dolls that I produced featured a very large eye on the right hand side of their face. They reminded me a bit of the googly eyes you can buy in craft stores, as well as their sheer uniqueness. They are like nothing I had ever seen in the shops. They attract a lot of attention. People always comment on how cute and tactile they are. Children picking them up and admiring them. It is the act of constant admiration and chain of events that lead me to the name, Ogl Doll.

Being both an illustrator and graphic designer, my creativity doesn't just involve dolls. I also create digital prints of all my characters, as well as fabric ornaments and home decorations.

I don't really have a work room at present, I tend to work at my kitchen table. However, I will soon have my very own work room in the next couple of months which I plan on filling with lots of my own art work prints and vinyl toy collection. I love to be immersed with a variety of pieces. I find it helps me to unwind as well as feed my creativity with new ideas.

I have a couple of online stores, one of which is my website, and the other is my Zazzle store where you can find a huge variety of products, including digital prints, phone cases, lap top sleeves, bags and much more!
