OhioWoodandIronWorks' Shop Announcement

Welcome to Ohio Wood and Iron Works! We take pride in helping you design and choose hand crafted conversation pieces for your home. To learn how your item is made and to hear the story of how our shop began, follow the link to our "About" page!

Since 1975, Sam Krantz has handcrafted heirloom custom furniture. Each piece is formed from local hardwoods dried in his Zoarville shop and begins to evolve utilizing his collection of antique hand tools. Sam's ability to craft each piece to suit with regard to size, style, and tone showcases Sam's many talents. Appreciating the appearance and simplicity of such fine pieces is an art in itself.

Each piece is individually crafted by hand. We use select North American hardwoods such as cherry, walnut, ash and beech. Our light, ornamental ironwork is completed using our hand crank forge, along with our gas forge. All materials used to construct our pieces are made in the USA!

The methods we employ for design and assembly have been time tested since colonial America.

Our panels utilize reverse annular ring construction to minimize cupping and warping. Dovetail joints and mortise and tennon joinery compliment the time honored traditional casework. Our traditional finishes are applied by hand, providing a durable, soft lustrous finish. We would appreciate the opportunity to help you find that perfect piece to compliment your cozy home.

Don't see exactly what you're looking for or have a vision for a piece that perfectly compliments your home? We love working with customers to design something amazing! To see more photos of custom orders and options, see our gallery on the Ohio Wood and Iron Works Facebook page.

New in 2013- Our "Vintage" shop section. Here, I'm able to incorporate my love for all things old, rusty, well-loved, and antique! While we enjoy bringing hand-crafted goods to your home, this allows me to share my fun vintage "picks" with our Etsy community, too! All vintage goods are described as accurately as possible and hand "picked" by me. We hope you'll find them to be harmonious with our wood and iron goods. - Jodi
