Welcome to My Experience of the World. I offer landscape paintings that honor Our Earth. These original works of art are created thoughtfully to enrich your life with reminders of the diverse Natural Beauty that surrounds us. For small works I use recycled scraps leftover from my own or others projects, thus minimizing the environmental impacts of material waste.
Adventures to explore the beauty and wonder of the Earth are my passion. Revealing my finds with original fine art has been my mission since childhood. I have visited all the sites that I paint, painting or sketching on location, or photographing what I see to later paint in my studio. Please complete my art by your viewing of it.

5 out of 5 starsI love these acrylic on copper paintings by Rosemary. They do glow and look different in different lights. The birch bark twig stand makes the painting even better. A small piece of nature to enjoy inside. Love your paintings Rosemary!

5 out of 5 starsA beautiful work that, despite its diminutive size, elegantly expresses the verdant beauty of a special place: Lopez Island, Washington. A finely and lovingly crafted piece. In addition, it was carefully packed and promptly shipped.

5 out of 5 starsThis is a beautiful little painting on copper that is very unique. You can see a little shimmer of the copper plate peaking through the painting and along the edges. The style of work reminds me of something painted in the 1890s. This small painting is set on linen mat, then framed in a beautiful high quality wooden frame. It was packed and shipped in a meticulous manner. High quality box with custom foam packing inside so the painting wouldn't jostle around in the shipping process. I would highly recommend this artist. The work is more beautiful in person than on the website. Also, the colors work really well in our home. Lovely...thanks so much!

My Lifetime Dream of a Sunny Work Space Come True at Last
I proclaimed that I would be an artist when I was 6 and first saw the art in the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. I have had many detours along the way, but I always found time and space to paint landscapes. When my daughter was young and I was working full time, I would throw a plastic tablecloth on the kitchen table and paint watercolors after she was asleep. I would take workshops and classes so that I could paint larger and in oils, always dreaming of a space to paint large oil paintings. Finally, a building of artist workspaces was created about a half mile from my home and I rented the last studio available in it. It was large, but very dark. Hardly any natural light. It had one window that faced North that looked out on a dark brown condo. But then, in September of 2012, a studio at the South end of the building came open and it had windows all along the South wall and a large window on the west wall. Heaven! You laugh at my joy over a southern exposure? My studio is in Seattle, land of constant rain, clouds and fog. Yes, on a sunny day it is blistering hot, but then I paint watercolors and egg tempera which work so much better in the heat. In the winter, I paint in oil, often very large oils and love the cold temperatures that delay the drying times so that I can maximize my use of blending wet edges in the paint. I met Arne in Alaska 36 years ago. We were often separated as he took care of his parents in Norway and I took care of my parents in North Carolina. But we are together now, and are enjoying the best of all possible worlds, making and painting, inventing and creating to our heart's content. I sell my work through designers, my newsletters, my open studio events once a month and on Etsy.

I have painted all my life. I opened my shop on Etsy as it specialized in the handmade. I started painting oil on copper in 2008 while I recovered from a bicycle accident. I love the results and have continued to this day.

Shop policies
I work very hard to ensure that my photography represents my art accurately. I regularly calibrate my monitor with a Spyder for example. However, as a student of light, I know colors can really appear different on different monitors and under different lighting. Even the sky light is different at different latitudes! Nothing is constant.
I deliberately photograph my paintings on copper under different lights to help show the range of variance in how they look. This is what I love about copper, so to me it is a feature and adds to the interest of the painting. It is as variable as the landscape itself.
