About

We live and breathe History and like to re-create it in the clothing and accessories we make to give others a taste of our country's rich history!

I started sewing at a very early age and began making my own clothes when I was 11. I became the family seamstress and gradually it turned into a small business as word spread and folks began special ordering items from me and I eventually got into custom dress-making. Then, several years ago, I discovered historical re-enacting and I knew I had found my niche! Sewing then became fascinating research projects and history lessons as I searched for authentication as to how the clothing of our forefathers was made and worn. A couple of years after joining the re-enacting world I met my husband (at a re-enactment, of course) and found that he was just as enthralled with the making of historical clothing as I was and we became a team! In just about every way possible! Together we research the styles of days gone by and have recreated clothing ensembles from several time periods. Mostly, we enjoy teaching others about what we have discovered and we spend our free time doing just that at Living History events on the weekends. Our main focus at present is the Second Seminole War period (1835 - 1842).
We're very new at having a "shop" and don't have it stocked very well just yet but please keep on eye out for new additions! Mostly what you'll find here are the basic elements for being "old fashioned" for a day -- aprons, bonnets, pinafores, mop caps, little girls' night gowns, men's gathered shirts -- but we hope to add to that soon!
Now, perhaps my husband doesn't actually help me with the sewing but it still takes team work because we have a baby boy who requires constant supervision at this point. However, he does excellent sewing when it comes to leather-working! He makes pucker-toe moccasins, hand bags, pouches, gun covers, knife sheaths, chaps/leggings, some clothing and pretty much anything utilitarian from elk and deer hide. Keep an eye on our shop -- we hope to start stocking those types of things soon!
Thank you for taking an interest in our shop and our story and we hope we can assist you somehow in your quest for the simpler life of days gone by! Blessings!

Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator, We're A Team No Matter What We Do!

It all started a few short years ago when we met at a historical Creek Indian War re-enactment. He was a Creek warrior, I was a white girl captured in the battle. He decided not to give me back to the white men and we've been a team ever since!
