Welcome to Old Ways: Fuss&Feathers ~ custom requests gladly considered.

At OWF&F making a fuss over who and what matters in your life is a unique experience with a bit of antiquity and vintage-retro style sprinkled about. A blend of tradition and technology dwells here and things are done the old fashioned way….hands-on creation and attention to detail.

My invitation and stationery designs are built from the ground up and completely created by me…no templates are used. You'll find original, unique designs that will compliment the theme of your event be it fun or elegant, fancy or classic. Because I design my offerings without templates I can easily work with clients to create unique items for custom orders as well.

Also, since I create all of my own designs, all of my designs are tweak-able. Minor adjustments are made at no extra charge...things that require a bit more time carry a customization fee (add a photo, change a color scheme, re-design an existing product)...if your desired customization is not listed as an option for an item, please contact me with your change request(s) before ordering.

You'll never be charged extra for Proof revisions on existing product....I'll work with you until you're delighted with what you've purchased. No fear of being too fussy with me....I'm fussy too, so I get it :-)

Like the style or artwork on one of my designs but want it on a different product? Let me know what you want and I'll let you know if it's possible.

Have a concept of what you want but just can't find it anywhere? Drop me a note...perhaps I can design it for you.

If you purchase a standard digital invitation listing you will have a first Proof/sample within 24 hours after I receive your order and customization details (Sunday – Thursday). Please note that my turnaround time for finished product is relative to how readily available *you* are for collaboration.

Special custom listing time frames will be discussed prior to acceptance of a particular Custom Order.

Wood decor and wedding items offered in my shop are handcrafted using the tools, techniques and quality of 30 years in the woodworking and construction industry with a specialty in historical restoration and period construction. All of our items are assembled and finished with the highest quality and made to last through the years. Reclaimed wood items are made from remnants of historical structures and restoration projects in southeastern Indiana.

Because we build and design each item ourselves, custom orders are welcomed and enjoyed!

Old and Unimproved - Doing Things the Old Way

The words "Old Fashioned" mean different things to different folks. For some those words bring feelings of nostalgia and stir visions of a simpler time...for some "Old Fashioned" means being out of touch with trends and technology.

I'm a big believer in legacy business and quality standards...each project made from a custom plan, personalized customer service, integrity, attention to detail and the best result for the customer's investment. I'm a big believer in keeping things more stylish and less trendy. I'm a big believer in technology as a tool but not as a lifestyle. I'm a huge believer that the people in our lives and the relationships we build with them, whether in business or in our personal lives, is the most important benchmark of our effectiveness, purpose and success.

So, I admit...we tend to be a bit Old Fashioned here at Old Ways...but we do have indoor plumbing and computers :-)

What We Do on Etsy

We're about creating new things out of old things and creating new things that are meant to grow old gracefully. We do what we do the Old Way - artisan born designs and products with attention to quality and detail. And because everything we do is "built from the ground up", everything we do has the potential to be customized.

Paper Goods and Digital Products

All of the designs in my shop are created from a "blank canvas" by me...Miss B...and only me. I don't use templates...every stripe, every polka dot, every piece of artwork has been individually placed for ease in customizing.

I work primarily with antique and vintage illustrations that were originally drawn by hand. These illustrations have been digitized but the imperfections and charm of the original artisan's work still comes through lending a vintage paper warmth to modern digital design. I do digitally alter/manipulate these old illustrations so that they will produce the best result possible with modern digital printing technology.

All of the invitations in my shop are available printed and I offer a range of paper choices to suit different budgets and events. I partner with a stationery printer that utilizes commercial digital presses resulting in lovely printed quality for your personal paper goods and customized printed items.

Your printed items will be professionally packaged for travel and to resist the elements then shipped directly to your doorstep.

Wood Products

The wood products offered in our shop are made from designs that originated in our workshop...an extension of our construction company. We've been in business locally for nearly 30 years and specialize in historical structures as well as building new structures with time tested techniques.

My brother, Mike, constructs all of the wood products in my shop. We collaborate on design...he makes the design a functional reality.

Some of our wood products are made from new materials and some are made from antique and vintage salvage from our restoration/renovation projects or from structures that are being demolished. And guess what? Our barn wood products are made using wood salvaged from actual antique Hoosier barns. If it states "reclaimed wood" in the listing, the wood is reclaimed from structural history...not from our neighbor's deck remodeling project :-)

Every one of our wedding cake stands is made with the same techniques we use when building a much larger structure and finished with attention to detail. If you go for the more classic painted style it will be made from solid, heavy materials, braced underneath and finished to interior standards. If your event is better suited to one of our barn wood stands we know you require a sturdy, level surface and that raw wood edges should not be a part of the rustic look.

All of our wood products are built by hand when ordered.

Thank you for considering a purchase from Old Ways: Fuss&Feathers! It is my goal to provide you with unique items of quality for your enjoyment.

I believe that customer service is an important part of your experience so I welcome questions and requests. I am generally able to respond promptly during my regular U.S. business hours (9:00 - 6:00 EST, Monday - Friday). I don't keep any regular hours on Saturdays however you may find me here sometimes. I do not do design work on Sundays or US Holidays.

Payment
Payment can be made using Etsy Payments or PayPal. Orders that require expedited printing need to be paid using the PayPal payment gateway (a PayPal account is not needed to use the PayPal payment gateway...check out with your debit or credit card as a Guest via PayPal).
Shipping
PRINTED STATIONERY ITEMS:
Print orders for invitations, labels, other stationery, guest books, etc. ship to you directly from the stationery printing company that I partner with for printed paper items. Paper goods are packaged to protect against moisture and humidity in transit. Most orders ship by USPS Priority Mail although larger purchases may be sent by FedEx or UPS. Shipping upgrades are available by special request.
***Note that upgrading shipping does not lessen the standard turnaround time for printed items, only the transit time. Turnaround times for printed items vary by the item and are outlined in individual listings.

WOOD ITEMS:
After your purchase you will receive a personal note including the intended ship date for your package thru the Etsy convo system. When your item(s) ship you will receive a message and email giving specifics as to the shipping and delivery of your item.

Most items are shipped by USPS Priority Mail. Your domestic postage for a package will always include Delivery Confirmation and custom wood items are shipped insured. More expensive items are shipped with Signature Confirmation. I wrap and package all items for shipment with proper care and respect of delicacy. I prefer paper for cushion but do use some bubble/styro to protect some items. I try to avoid styro packing peanuts if at all possible.

DIGITAL/PRINTABLE FILES:
You can generally expect a first Proof/Draft of printable invitations within 12-24 hours of your order if placed Sunday - Thursday during my regular business hours. Multiple digital item orders and/or decorations will be Proofed within 48 hours.
**Note that my turnaround times for print-quality digital files are relative to how readily available you are for collaboration**

I offer some Instant Download digital listings in my shop. Once purchased, you will receive an email notification within a few minutes to notify you that your download is ready. The notification is sent automatically to the email address associated with your Etsy account. You do not have to access your download via the email notification....your file will be available for download in the You/Purchases section or on your Etsy Receipt.
Refunds and Exchanges
It is my goal that you be delighted with your purchases and the service you receive. If there is ever an issue, please contact me and I will make amends as the situation allows.

DIGITAL/PRINTABLE FILES:
In general, due to the nature of the product, refunds are not given for digital purchases that have been commenced, approved and/or delivered. Refunds will not be given for Instant Download digital files.

PRINTED STATIONERY AND OTHER PRESS ITEMS:
In general, due to the nature of the product, refunds are not given for custom printed items. If your printed item(s) arrived damaged or there are flaws from the printing process, please contact me upon receipt of the items with a photo of the damage or issue so I can arrange a re-print.

WOOD ITEMS:
Refunds will be given for regular stock items purchased within 3 days of receipt. Return postage must be paid by the buyer and items must be returned to me complete and in their original condition before refund is made. Custom made items will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

ITEMS DAMAGED OR LOST IN TRANSIT:
Replacement or refund requests for items damaged during shipment are to be made within 48 hours of receipt of the item...we'll be working at a distance, so please document damage to box, packaging and item by photograph in order to expedite the process for shipping insurance claims. Refund requests for lost items require a 15 day wait by USPS before an insurance claim is honored.

ORDER CANCELLATION REQUESTS:
You may cancel your order and request a full refund if no work has commenced on a custom item. Full refunds will not be given if work has commenced on a custom item purchase before a request to cancel is received. Refunds for work that has commenced will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Refunds for cancellation requests initiated by a customer will be processed within the time frame of 3 business days.

Customized/personalized orders are archived digitally thru the date of your event.

If you plan to print digital items at a commercial print shop or office store, please know (or contact them to find out) how your digital file needs to be set up for their process. If you plan to print digital items at home keep in mind that they tend to be heavy on ink usage. I'm always happy (when appropriate) to change a background to white to help you save ink.

How do I send the information to personalize my purchase?

Your information for customizing personalized purchases such as invitations, guest books or gift items should be put in the "Note to Seller" section during the Etsy checkout process so they will come to me on your order.

How long does it take to receive a printed order?

Standard production times can be found in the "Shipping" tab on each listing. Note that production time ("ready to ship by") is the time it takes to create your order so be sure to factor in shipping time as well. Most printed orders arrive within 7 to 10 business days if digital Proofs are approved promptly. I can sometimes accommodate a faster turnaround if your event is near...please contact me before placing an order to inquire about expedited service.
