About

One Little Bird's online fumbles

As stated in my short bio, I have always enjoyed making & creating things. I found myself getting to a point when I had given my homemade bits, (paintings, bags, jewellery, pots...), to all family & friends & I wasn't too sure what to do with it next. I decided to sell some bits at a market with friends. Doing so encouraged me to continue making. I still love markets & having that direct contact with your customer - you meet so many great people!
I decided to start up an Etsy shop though as I wasn't attending markets regularly & I kept getting asked if I had a shop online.
Although I have had my Etsy shop for a while now, I have to say that I'm still learning, & I'm still stumbling around here, hoping to get better at it!
As a keen treasure hunter - I have always been a magpie - my eyes are constantly drawn to interesting pieces & I keep filling my house with odd bits & bobs. I started organising craft & makers markets with friends & soon realised I could possibly combine it & sell some vintage bits too, which gave me a legit reason to drag home more old stuff to my house!
This led to the organisation of a big vintage fair & then onto adding some of these bits to my Etsy shop.

Creativitiy in all its forms will always be part of my life, I can not choose to stick to one thing - I always want to learn new crafts, I love watching other artists in motion, seeing HOW something is made, it being a jumper, a pot, a print or a painting - I'll be the one up close at an exhibition looking at the brush strokes of a painting. I love the magic of creation, how we can create a piece with our own hands, how a piece of string can become a pair of mittens, how some flour can become a beautiful loaf of bread. This love for magic in combination with my magpie eyes also drew me to photography, an obsession to document my life, shapes & forms, & to observe the world around me, seeing how the light changes the appearance of what's in front of us, & finally seeing your image appear under the red light in a darkroom - taking your time to get the perfect print. Magic.
The physicality means something & the craft behind it. I am shooting a lot of my photography digitally these days but my heart is in the craft & I am hoping to get the chance this year to go back to my roots & create my magic where it started, on film.
In the meantime I will continue making my bits & bobs for this shop & figure out where to go next.

If I could choose the perfect job it would be something along the lines of: photographer/stylist/interior-designer/product-designer/potter/accessories-maker/treasure-hunter/cook/gallery-shop-owner/artist/craftster/maker/shaker/baker!
