Buy a pencil, send an education, change a life.

I am an artist, violist, UC Berkeley student and resident of the California Bay Area. I grew up in the Seattle area, where drawing was one of the more creative ways to pass the rainy afternoons. When it became evident that my countless hours spent drawing on the computer in the kitchen were benefitting no one, I explored the idea of using my art to help a cause, and this eventually led to the creation of my company, One Million Pencils for Africa. For each pencil that I sell, I send another to Ghana. We take for granted everything that we can do with a pencil, but imagine trying to learn to write without one! Even one pencil can be the gateway to an education and a better life.

One Million Pencils for Africa believes foremost in sustainability. We rely on carefully-chosen partner organizations to deliver pencils to students, as these organizations have already established relationships with schools and educators. The majority of the schools served by these organizations are rural, without regular access to school supplies, and are being assisted in additional ways to ensure that each child receives the best education that they can. Learn more about what each organization does to serve students, besides delivering pencils on my website.
