How do you pronounce that?
Oogle-dee-what??? I know you're asking yourself, "What in the world does Oogledeeboo mean?" and "How do you pronouce it?" - Fear not, I shall explain.
First of all it is pronounced: ü-gǝl-dē-bü
As for it's meaning...It was my mom's "magic" word when I was a kid. While waiting at traffic lights, she would exclaim, "Oogledeeboo!" and the light would magically turn green. At bed time she would wave her hand and exclaim "Oogledeeboo!" and any monsters hiding in the closet or under the bed would be vanquished. I believed my mother was magic. I also believe the ability to make something with your own two hands is a magic quality to possess and therefore Oogledeeboo seemed the natural choice of names for my brand of art.
I studied and earned a degree in photography in 1993, and worked for several years taking architectural and wedding photographs, but never really developed a "passion" for the art of photography. I have always felt a need to create and spent many years trying to find the artistic medium that would fill my creative void. I dabbled in many art mediums from drawing and painting to printmaking and finally, in 2001 I found my artistic "passion" in making jewelry.
Every day of life brings something different and evokes different moods. Some days your happy, some days you feel romantic, or playful, or even sad. My jewelry designs are much the same and are not limited to any one style or medium. Some days I love all that can be formed with just metal and the whole process that goes into manipulating it into something curly or minimal or architectural. There are other days when only a happy color palette of beads or soft luster of pearls will make the day complete. But, at the end of each day, be it happy, romantic, playful, stressful, or sad, I can say I created something with my hands that I love.
