I have always had a love for sewing. No one in my family sewed, but as a child I would practice on my Grandmothers (antique) sewing machine in her basement by turning scrap rectangles into a "pouch" or a "pillow" (not my finest work)! In seventh grade, I had a home-ec. class that I LOVED and this was the first time I had real instruction on how to use a sewing machine and serger. In high school, I begged my mom to let me take a sewing class with my friend, but she wanted me to focus on business and academic classes to prepare for college and career (little did she know what I would do later :). So, during a study hall period, I asked my friend's sewing teacher if I could "unofficially" be part of the class and she graciously let me! We made these knit tank tops that we were so proud of and wore to school all the time, as well as some skirts, and other clothing.

At some point, my mom did buy me my first sewing machine but it sat in the closet as I went through college and my early working years. After getting married and having a place of our own, I dusted off that old Singer and started sewing pillows and curtains for the house. I read a lot of books, tutorials, and just did a lot of "trial-and-error." After our kids were born, we were living in Hawaii and in a rental house that I couldn't paint/decorate and desperately needed a creative outlet. I got out my old Singer again and this is when my passion for sewing really took off! I spent hours reading patterns, tutorials, books, and then practiced those techniques by sewing things for the kids.

In addition to machine sewing, I also have a love for hand sewing. So, when my sweet niece was having a birthday, I decided to create some felt desserts for her. My daughters watched me making them, and wanted some of their own. They were thrilled when I gave them all of these new treats for their play kitchen and spent almost every day having tea parties - and inviting baby brother to join too. I loved it so much that I decided it was time to open an Etsy shop!

I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love, and to be able to stay at home with my three kids. Now my daughter is learning how to sew and she seems to love it just as much as I do.
