About OpasPens

Sales 386
On Etsy since 2010

Artistry and utility in unique items turned from wood.

I started turning wood 2001, making a few bowls and other miscellaneous items. When I began making pens in 2006, I focused almost exclusively on that until 2011, when I began to make more larger items. Now, I make fewer small items, and make more bowls and lidded boxes.

I enjoy taking wood that would otherwise end up in the landfill or burning pile, and making a useful or ornamental item from it. I enjoy the natural beauty of wood, and am happy when I am able to fashion it into something that is really unique.

For the sake of artistic expression, I also use some materials other than wood when it is appropriate to do so - both to enhance the wood or to replace it. These materials can be either man-made or natural.
