Frequently asked questions
Are these coins real/genuine/authentic?
Yes. Every coin you see on my page is a genuine coin, whether it's a 2000 year-old Ancient Roman coin or a modern U.S. coin. I am a professional numismatist with certification from the ANA - I only source my inventory from reputable auction houses and dealers, and personally inspect and authenticate each coin prior to listing it on Etsy. All of my coins are covered by a lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
What is the lifetime authenticity guarantee?
All coins are considered guaranteed authentic for life. If you take one of my coins to a professional coin dealer or third-party coin grading service and they evaluate it as a fake, please contact me immediately to send the coin back for a full refund. Some of my listings include printed certificates of authenticity - if the listing does not, I can provide one on request.
Do your packages contain any information that reveals that they contain coins?
My packages do not contain any labels/references to coins or coin collecting. All coins are secured within corrugated cardboard coin mailers, so shaking the package will not produce any loose coin sounds. I use my personal name as the return address on all shipments rather than "Original Skin Coins" to minimize the risk of a package getting stolen or opened during shipment or after delivery. I have been shipping coins across the country (and occasionally overseas) for over a decade using the same method, and have not had a package stolen.
Will my coin look like the one in the picture?
This is always a legitimate concern when buying coins online. Many online coin sellers "bait-and-switch" by putting up product listings with nice pictures but then shipping subpar coins. I have built my business around honest coin descriptions and photographs - with Original Skin Coins, what you see is what you get. The images on my product listings are intended to show the minimum quality of coin - the coin you receive will be at least as nice as the coin in the photo, if not nicer. I also make it clear in the product description whether the images are representative examples of the quality of coin you will receive or photographs of the exact coin you will receive.
How do you ship your coins?
Each coin is placed within an archival-quality, flexible Mylar coin flip. That flip is then secured within a corrugated cardboard coin safety mailer. Unlike other online coin dealers, who may ship coins loose in envelopes, I have shipped thousands of coins and have never had any issue with damage occurring to the coin during shipment.
