Review pt. 2 of 2: I sent pics of the hats to Edie; she agreed they were ruined/not wearable. Only after I asked about a refund did she insist I send them back for repair, despite my special event having passed. I returned them w/ insurance ($$). My requests for a refund were ignored. I was told the shipping company was “investigating” 2 weeks ago. Now that I've said I'm going to have to escalate the case, she claims I didn't send requested photos (demonstratively false) and that my professionally packaged return box, larger & sturdier than hers w/ plenty of packing material, is too small & caused further damage. Very petty. It's been a month since I received the hats, a week since she received my return, and looks like I'm in for several more weeks of headwear headache. Thus, I cannot recommend this unprofessional seller.

And They Loved Hats contacted Etsy Support for advice, concerned after customer made technically impossible allegations of damage to hatbox & steel wired brim to her custom made hat(see image 5)demanding refund/insurance/resell, but rejecting our generous offer of a free repair, as a resolution. Since 2011 we've had a no refund policy for custom made items. She accepted her 24 hr parcel from the UK with doorstep signature. Two days later sent back photos of her custom hat which we passed to the hat industry's millinery historian for advice who commented, ''Does look distinctly as if the brim has been bent by hand..'' Customer kept the hats for 3 weeks, failing to return packaging & box for courier company investigation. We have shipped these boxes worldwide since 2011. Our customer services are excellent

Review pt. 1 of 2: I hate to say it, but buyer beware! This is my second time ordering with Edie and unfortunately it was a disaster. It doesn’t matter how lovely the hats are; if something goes wrong with your order, this headwear will be nothing but a headache. Communication problems throughout the month leading up to the hats’ arrival included unexpected fees and a double charge I caught before making the final payment. Then the 2 hats I ordered for a very special event trip arrived in a flimsy, ornamental box with barely any padding, quite unlike my prior order. The box arrived across the Atlantic largely caved in with a hole in it and was apparently shipped without insurance even though I'd paid about $700 USD for the hats not including all the shipping fees. See review of 2nd hat for the rest of the debacle.

And They Loved Hats contacted Etsy Support for advice, concerned after customer made illogical & technically impossible allegations of damage to hatbox and crown of her custom made hat(see image 5)demanding refund/insurance/resell, but rejecting our generous offer of a free repair. Customer finally returned both hats carelessly bound in bubble wrap in a box too small for the wide steel brim hat causing further damage. And They Loved Hats is unsure why this customer has shown contempt for our work & shop policies. However, we will continue to offer the best customer services and beautifully made hats to all our buyers as usual. Our fair 'no refund' free repair/alteration policy on custom made items has been in place since 2011.

The cherry on the cake...

Edie discovered her creative spirit at a young age and has since garnered millinery fans in fashion, press and celebrity circles. She spent an immensely intense and rewarding few years in tuition with millinery historian Jane Smith, which gave her the opportunity to develop as a designer and find her own unique style. She creates sculptural hats, including those made from fine straw braids.

Edie insists on handling materials whilst designing, eschewing the sketching process altogether to focus on touch and observation as a means of investigating every possibility before deciding upon the hats final form. She specialises in creating beautiful couture hats with a timeless aesthetic: each one with a story to tell of their own.

Her hat styles oscillate between art and fashion; they orbit around sculpture and hairstyle. Original hats have been spotted at Royal Ascot, Melbourne Cup and the Queens Annual Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. Edie has designed hats for artists performing at the Brit Awards and numerous special events around the world. Her millinery studio is situated in a creative hub of central London.

Welcome! All of our products are made to order. They are individually made, one at a time. Great care and attention is given over to each piece. Hand dyed and natural materials used may have subtle colour or texture variations making each handmade item unique special. Please note traditional couture methods are used to create our straw braid hats. This can mean that 'making time' can vary depending on the volume of orders we have received. Currently, making time will be around 2-3 weeks for straw hats, and 1-2 weeks for our smaller straw pieces. Rush orders are sometimes possible, simply send me a message to discuss what you need and when you need it for. I'm happy to help if I possibly can
