OrlandoBeads' Shop Announcement

Greetings from Orlando, Florida, and welcome to my Etsy Shop!

My name is Ursula, and my story begins in Jersey City, NJ in the 1950s. My love of crafts probably began with the Easy Bake oven that my grandparents gave me for Christmas one year! My interest in creating "works of art" continued with toys like the Play Dough Fun Factory, Creepy Crawlies, and that gadget where you melted the square of plastic and then quickly molded it into different objects (can anyone help me out with the name of that toy)? It brings back so many happy memories when I think about those days!

My family moved to South Florida when I was 16, and I eventually became a High Scool Math Teacher. After 12 years of teaching, a Navy Recruiter scheduled a presentation in one of my Math classes and inadvertantly recruited a wife! Twenty-five years later, John and I live in Orlando with our 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Over the years, I have dabbled in so many crafts, including macrame, cake decorating, scrapbooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting, and shirt painting, to name just a few. You name it, I've done it! My first venture in jewelry making was in the form of a kit - back when I was about 10. It involved immersing marbles in boiling water and then into ice cold water so that they would crackle; you would then glue them into jewelry settings. My poor Mom probably had to wear a marble bracelet to church on Christmas Day!

Fast forward many years, and jewelry making is my passion! My favorite part is designing unique pieces. I hope that you can see the thought and care that goes into each design. I never make anything that I wouldn't love to wear myself, and my 12 and 13 year old granddaughters wear the ones I have made for them as well! I take that as a good sign that there is something for everyone in my shop!

Please let me know if I can help you with a special one-of-a-kind design if you are looking for something I don't currently have in stock. I will be happy to design something to your specifications.
