I recently finished this pattern for a friend and I am not a fan at all of the pattern. I made a lot of changes to make it more appealing and better. First, I changed Harry's skin color to beige. Why was he white? I also made his wand brown, the actual color it is. For Voldemort, I made him a grayish white. The pattern had his hands stitched but not his face? That makes no sense. Why would his hands be white and wrapped around the snakes belly? It blended to easy, so I'm glad that I switched it. Next, I colored in the poke balls(red and white) on the bottom box. It added the right touch and pop of color to the bottom of the piece that was all black. To the bottom box I also didn't stitch all three long lines on the top and bottom of the box. It was horrible and took too long just doing one.

Fighting the Stigma of Cross Stitch!

Cross stitch has become a bigger and bigger part of my life in recent years. It's always annoyed me that there hasn't been the kind of kits and patterns that I want to stitch so my solution was to make them myself. There is still a stigma with cross stitch that it is a 'granny craft' and although I believe there is a lot of beauty to traditional cross stitches I want to create modern and fun patterns and stitches that can appeal to a new generation of stitchers.

Everything in my shop is unique to Rather Unseamly. I spend the time thinking up the designs and creating them. Nothing goes into my shop unless it is something I want to stitch and if I believe the design will appeal to a modern audience. Often enough I find myself with at least 3 of my patterns on the go at once!

I find inspiration from all over the shot. Sometimes it's something I see online through blogs, Facebook or videos. Sometimes it's some sarcastic comment that a friend has made. Sometimes even I don't know where my designs pop into my head from!

I'm always looking for new ways for cross stitches to be more than just pretty designs. I'm currently developing a range of kits and I'm starting to look into cross stitch jewellery. So stay tuned it's going to be an exciting year!
