Overduemuse
I have been knitting since I was 8 years old [off and on]. My grandma gave me a giant book of knitted stitches, and I was so fascinated. She taught me the basics, and my love grew from there. I started CraftyAllie (now OverdueMuse) back in February or March of 2011 making Harry Potter scarves for a few people. It was the summer right before the release of the last movie, so EVERYONE wanted one. Once that took off, people would come to me with requests to make other things, and so my business began growing. Throughout college, I used knitting therapeutically for anxiety, and as a study tool during lectures. I love the idea of being cuddled up with a comfy knitted piece that was made from two needles and a stringy thing. The idea that I can create such textures and complexities inspires me constantly. I firmly believe in purchasing handmade goods, especially when it comes to knitwear. Sure, a scarf can be purchased from a retail store for $7, but it will only last you a year..maybe. My scarves are handcrafted with quality yarn & love, and with proper care will last for years to come.
The consumer has all of the power in choosing where they shop, and I strive for my little store to be a destination for them.
Cheers!
