Designing Sisters

We have been sewing since a very young age. We started with doll clothes, and later helped our mother with her dressmaking and embroidery business. Lee continued to develop sewing and pattern design, while Alice studied fine art and became a graphic artist.

Early in the 1980s, Lee manufactured a quilted wallet which retailed at the better gift and department stores nationwide. The pattern was self-published (with illustration and typesetting by Alice) for the sewing industry and it was subsequently added to the Butterick Catalog in 1983. The wallet pattern was reintroduced in 2001 under the Pat-e-Patterns name for the quilting industry with computer illustrations by Alice, and she kept on publishing and designing patterns while maintaining a full time career in another industry. In 2007 she was downsized, and through a fabulous series of events, was hired by Sulky as a Freelance Sulky National Educator. Lee loves representing a great company with wonderful products and even better people. She teaches embellishment, works trade shows and does public speaking for Sulky as well as continuing to publish designs for Pat-e-Patterns.

Pat-e-Patterns is the brand name for designs created by my sister, Lee Fletcher of Fletcher Ross Designs. We collaborated on the production of the patterns - she created the sewing instructions and I did the graphic design.

At 10 years old, I helped my mother in her dressmaking and embroidery business. In the 80s, I manufactured a quilted wallet for retail, and the pattern was added to Butterick Catalog in '83. Quilter's Wallet was revised in 2001 for Pat-e-Patterns.
