Announcement   Lots of things hugely discounted in my SALE section! :)

Welcome to Petalknits, where I offer only the highest quality props, handspun yarns, and patterns! Many of my hats are made with my own handspun yarn, using only the best materials! I spin each batch of yarn, by hand, on my hand spindle, so that I have ultimate control over the quality. Handspinning is often the most time consuming part of making the hat.
I am very particular about the fibers I use, as well as my designs. The fibers are from Etsy suppliers, which are dyed by hand, in small batches.

After carefully knitting my hats (which are all knit from my own designs), I often spend a great deal of time, finishing the hats~with beautiful flowers, I have searched for, and made into a removable clip, myself....or with bows I have handmade!
Each item is designed and made with the greatest care, and I hope you enjoy my creations!

Interested in trying my patterns, for free? I have a testing group on Facebook, at:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/224104947733208/

I have now opened a sister shop, called Petalknitsfashion, where I have now moved most of my pre-knit and sale items!
http://www.etsy.com/shop/petalknitsFashion?ref=si_shop

I also have my patterns on Ravelry, at http://www.ravelry.com/designers/tracie-taggart...available, for instant download, as well as Craftsy, at: http://www.craftsy.com/user/pattern/store/173911
You may follow me on Facebook, as Petalknits, for new items and specials (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Petalknits/183233601723155)!

Note for those who wish to purchase patterns: Feel free to sell whatever you make! I only ask that you give credit for my pattern, in your listing, to save confusion....

Custom orders:
It is important to note that my primary goal is designing. And while I do enjoy knitting and spinning, I value time with my family very much! Therefore, beginning this new year, I will be charging by the hour for all custom projects. The charge will be minimum wage, plus supplies and my selling fees. Thanks for understanding!

PLEASE look carefully before purchasing, as I cannot offer returns on patterns that have already been downloaded! Thanks.

About

Original Designs, Handspun Yarns, Photography Props

I love to design! I just never realized that fiber would be my medium. I began knitting about 7 years ago, and quickly realized that I wasn't satisfied following other people's patterns. I began creating my own designs...some were good, and some, well....! However, through trial and error, not only did I find the ones that worked out well, but started to write them down for others. (It takes a lot of patience to remember to do this!)

At the same time, I fell in love with handspun yarn. I love the texture and the vibrant colors you find! It is often expensive, so I decided to try spinning it myself. I still enjoy spinning my own yarn, as often as I can. However, since I became a complete fiber snob (only the softest and best), it ended up not being cheaper. Still, because the fibers are hand dyed, and usually unique color ways, I love it that the items I make are one-of-a-kind!

From spinning my own yarn came the idea of extreme art yarn. My first real themed yarn was a Beatles yarn, complete with records and guitar picks. What fun! When I have time, I love to come up with a new theme. These unique works of art are very time consuming, to be sure, but hopefully enjoyed.

Many of the photography props that I have in my shop are prototypes for my patterns, while some I just did for fun (such as my recycled projects). I don't do much in the way of custom projects, because custom is very time consuming, and takes time away from designing. Unfortunately, most people don't realize just how time consuming knitting can be! I try to be fair in my pricing, but also to myself. Therefore, many of the pieces in my shop end up being completely unique items! These aren't items that are made up by the dozens, that you will find used by every other photographer out there....nor are they items made overseas and sold as handmade items.

I really hope that you enjoy my creations!
