Fully crazy about Pierrefonds Ceramics (and all other French ceramics), I am a compulsory collector.

FAIENCERIE HERALDIQUE DE PIERREFONDS

In 1903 at the foot of the famous Ducs d’Orléans castle (restored by Eugène Viollet-le-duc) , the « Faiencerie Héraldique de Pierrefonds » is created by the Comte HALLEZ d’ARROS, better known under Olivier de SORRA nickname.
At the beginning, De Sorra produce mainly heraldic pieces, inspired by Viollet-le Duc models, like genealogic plates or exceptional vases destined for rich and noble families.
Hopefully joined by a great industry captain, Gustave Adolf CLEMENT BAYARD, and experimented Ceramists like J.JOUANT and J.DUPAGNY coming from the Manufacture de Sèvres, the Faiencerie introduce in 1907 the first glazed, flamed and crystalline stoneware, typical of the Art Nouveau Style.
With Emile BOUILLON creativity, joining in 1912, the Manufacture got a huge reputation over the world, for its marvelous and unique pieces as well as for the numerous forms presented in the catalog.
Interrupted during the Second World War, the manufacture never retrieved its splendor, more and more in competition with modern materials and tendencies, and finally disappears in 1986.

PRODUCTS
If the most famous color for Pierrefonds is the blue, green, brown and cream were also produced.
Due to technical issues, red is very rare.
3 qualities were proposed: Flamed – Half-crystallized – Crystallized
Last one required several successive baking and only one error for some degrees in the process generated either a default or a reject.
