Announcement   Home Furniture, Harry Potter Wands, Wood Bowls, Wood Carvings, Furniture Refinishing, Personalized Wooden Signs, Custom Orders and more!

Welcome to PLBwood. I'm pleased to announce the launch of my new website - plbwood.dotd.org Every piece I've made is listed on my site, so you can check out all my work past and present in one convenient place.

Unfortunately my life is always busy and I can't find as much time to carve things as I would like. I have a lot of new pieces I've made that I just haven't found time to upload yet, and my backlog of projects for friends and family will probably keep me busy through at least September 2014. I'm hoping in July to have completely finished all of my work obligations, giving me a lot more free time to be creative. If you're interested in a custom piece before then please convo me and we can see if I'm able to fit it in or when I might be available to get started on it.

The trencher was delivered on time and the seller was very helpful through the process. I couldn't be happier with the trencher or the experience. I'm only jealous that it gets to sit in my sisters house instead of mine as it was a Christmas gift. ;) I highly recommend this seller. The craftsmanship is beautiful.

About

A second life for a tree

When I bought my first house, the backyard was really overgrown - a total woodland. I enjoy it back there, but there were two big dead trees that needed to come down. As a result of trying to get those trees down I purchased my first chainsaw, and after way too much work succeeded. Now my backyard has a pond, patio, and garden, and is a great retreat.

Next I had to do something with the trees once they were down, so I learned a little more about the process. They were cut into big logs and moved away. It wasn't until a year later that I had any desire to do anything with the wood. I wanted to make a gift for someone, and tried to make something unique.

My first attempts were mostly a lesson that I needed more tools. So over the next few months I had to start acquiring them to make the process a little easier. My entire arsenal is pretty much a chainsaw, a grinder, and a sander, so I'm far from well equipped!

I've tried to challenge myself to learn something new with the things that I create. Whether it's an entirely new item, a new type of finish, a new process, or just improving what I did before, I try to have each project help me learn.

I'm mostly here to try and recoup the cost of the few tools I have and to provide some unique items that I don't see elsewhere. I enjoy looking at what others have made, and seeing if I can do something similar. Most of what I make comes from making things for myself first, and then friends and family who want things too! I don't have the time to make many items, but I enjoy what I do create.

All of the wood that I use is recycled. No live trees have been cut down for me to use. I've done every step of the process, from felling the tree, to cutting it up, milling it into boards, storing and drying, carving, sanding, finishing, selling, and shipping!

Feel free to comment if you like things, or let me know if there's something you're looking for that I might be able to make. I like learning new things like that. Check out my new website - plbwood.dotd.org - for more pictures of all of my work past and present in one convenient place.

Sometimes life takes an odd turn, and that's how I ended up selling things on Etsy. I work in Finance, but enjoy doing things outdoors when I can.

I started working with wood as a way to make a special gift for someone, and have continued from there. All items are handmade by myself from start to finish, from felling a diseased tree to cutting it up, carving it out, and sanding it down.

I use all small tools, and have plenty of stories about every step of the process. I 'm also still challenging myself to create new and better things and find a use for every piece of wood out there, so feel free to ask if you'd like to see something a little different.
