IMPRESIÓN POR AMOR A LA MADERA
En 2009, después de 26 años trabajando en publicidad, me atrajo el olor a tinta y tipos de madera y monté un pequeño estudio dedicado al amor por la tipografía, los tipos de madera y el papel para abrazar árboles.
Un viaje de ida y vuelta de nueve horas desde Lancashire a Fife en Escocia, para comprar la primera edición de muchos, fue el comienzo de un viaje que el destino tomaría y crearía un sueño.
Muchos amigos se han encontrado a lo largo del camino, pero uno en particular se convirtió en un amigo y mentor de toda la vida durante su viaje. John, tipógrafo e impresor jubilado, transmitió todos sus conocimientos y compartió su maravilloso mundo de la impresión tipográfica. La pasión por usar viejas habilidades se hizo más fuerte y pronto llegó el momento de seguir adelante y crear un mundo propio alimentado por el olor de la tinta tipográfica recién impresa.
Print for Love of Wood nació y comenzó a crecer.
IMPRIMIR POR AMOR
Todos esos años trabajando con clientes, en el mundo corporativo, no fueron en vano. Jacqui descubrió su amor por trabajar con parejas en la papelería de su boda. Le encanta tomar una visión y darle vida. Desde la etapa de diseño hasta la impresión, cuando puede pasar los dedos y sentir la impresión táctil en el lujoso papel de algodón.
Fue una progresión natural que 'Print for Love' naciera y se convirtiera en parte del sueño. Jacqui ahora trabaja desde un estudio en un antiguo molino, alrededor de 1856, rodeado de una gran colección de tipos de madera e imprentas antiguas.
El sueño continúa, impreso con amor…
PRINT FOR LOVE OF WOOD
In 2009 after 26 years working in advertising I was lured by the smell of ink and wood type and set up a small studio dedicated to the love of letterpress, wood type and tree hugging paper.
A nine hour round trip from Lancashire to Fife in Scotland, to buy the first press of many, was the start of a journey that fate would take a hold of and create a dream.
Many friends have been met along the path but one in particular became a life long friend and mentor during her journey. John, a retired letterpress compositor and printer, passed on all his knowledge and shared his wonderful world of letterpress printing. The passion for using old skills grew stronger and soon it was time to move on and create a world of her own fuelled by the smell of freshly printed letterpress ink.
Print for Love of Wood was born and began to grow.
PRINT FOR LOVE
All those years working with clients, in the corporate world, were not wasted. Jacqui discovered her love for working with couples on their wedding stationery. She loves to take a vision and bring it to life. From the design stage, through to the printing when you can run your fingers and feel the tactile impression in the luxurious cotton paper.
It was a natural progression that ‘Print for Love’ was born and become part of the dream. Jacqui now works from a studio in an old mill, circa 1856, surrounded by a large collection of vintage wood type and printing presses.
